While Brian was a total boner, if I remember correctly, the photobucket thing might have crossed the line. I remember people going into his photobucket and posting at least one picture of his daughter?
The days before Tarck were desolate and dark. Tarckbear be praised for delivering us from the pit of despair known as Bike Forums.
The day of deliverance was not unanticipated, for the great Brian had decreed that all those who stood in defiance of the Laws of Inclusion and Pacivity would be banned. But a small band of souls from the SSFG forums would not relegate themselves to the Off Topic section. A community is what they desired. A community where they were free to heckle and troll the insipid masses and their stupid debates about the merits of bullhorns versus risers. A community where they were free to hack each other’s photobucket accounts and post pictures of other members’ girlfriends reading Harry Potter in their thongs. Alas, it was this last act that broke the camel’s back. The hand of Brian landed with such force that the forum cracked. It started small, with only a few tasting the fire of the perma-ban. But Brian soon learned that we would not go quietly into the night. For, like the great Sheldon, SSFG had a posse. A general uprising took place and, on that fateful May 1st, a great number were banned for arguing with moderators.
All thought the community was dead. The most vociferous and great were banned, never to return. But Almighty Tarckbear rose up and gave us a home of our own. On a unknown server, created by unknown hands, Tarckbike.com rose from the ashes of the May Day Massacre to become the preeminent fixed gear and single speed forum on the wide world of the interweb.
And lo, Tarckbear said to those gathered,
Be not afraid of the shift lever. Embrace the dangler and pusher.
For when the count of miles does pass eleven, you will be on a long ride.
Ride forth, but not without fenders and front racks.
For the weather will not be dry.
And the weight will not be carried to the rear.

lulz
these are pretty amazing
There was some photoshoppin’ too IIRC. Not sure it would happen now since tarck became a parenting blog. (Didn’t Fergie get a small taste that went nowhere?)
The photobucket hacking was over the line. A few people were banned for that in April. But the May 1st banning was a bunch of people who were just arguing with the mods. At least, that’s why I was banned.
I remember hearing about the Tommasini affair, but I don’t remember what it was about. I was over in Thailand and the majority of my forum activity took place on a phone without a qwerty keyboard so I missed a lot.
Some dispute over spamming and who owned the Tommasini name, which inexplicably played out over an Internet forum. ‘Tomassini’ was word blocked, so of course, bored jerks that we are, we spent an absurd amount of time finding ways around the block. Deathhare creating Thomas Sini was the icing on the cake and I believe resulted in his banning.
Wasn’t blicks complicit in some way? She became a mod towards the end.
tarck was like voldemort at brianforums. I had to message Death Hare to find out what the hell this place was
I saw the banner logo on someone’s computer in the background of a photo they posted.
Jumped over, swore a lot, stayed forever.
Tarck is about swearing a lot?
I think I joined Bikeforums right as the shit was hitting the fan there. Almost immediately saw how dumb BF was and eventually made my way here a few months later. I didn’t fully grasp what was going down at BF at the time. All I knew is that some dude who’s avatar had dreadlocks was a chode and there was way too much talk about aerospokes.
My experience was about the same. Guess I lurked for a while before I joined. Never got my jar of dicks.

First Google result for “Tomassini Gorilla”.

It was much more of a shitstorm on SSFG because the GoRilla bikes were all of that type and the trademark owner/OP was a huge dick and hypocrite about the whole thing.
At that point Brian had gone power mad making it all the more fun to fuck with him. The situation was kind of perfect because I think he was worried about upsetting paying advertisers with all of real talk.
If you stick around this place long enough you’ll see a lot people joining who followed linkbacks and come on here to defend their shitty blogs/products/selves.
Tarck is having none of it. Keep lurking, bike industry. Oh, and fuck you. Eat a JOD.
I don’t ever remember sharing the same forum as that hyperdouche scrodmoron.
Dudes who are still like ‘if it’s ain’t fixed, it’s broken’ in 2014 are the equivalent to the kids you knew from high school who still live in the old neighborhood, delivering pizzas and playing Call of Duty.

Truth from on high.
Free Deathare
Remember when Brian wordfiltered “tarckbike” and a bunch of folks changed their signatures “Ask me about t a r c k b i k e” or something like that? lol we were all shits but it helped pass the time at a job I was utterly bored with. This of course was after all the “FREE DEATHARE” signatures.
My experience was about the same. Guess I lurked for a while before I joined. Never got my jar of dicks.
still a lurker mostly - but tarck for life
I went MIA for a good few months and loved back in for parenting advice – been a bit MIA for the last few week do to job search and work stuff.
I found Tarck when one of my bikes ended up in the Jackass thread. I couldn’t let that bike represent my usual output.
I used to browse around looking for pictures of sw8 fixys as inspiration for my first couple bike projects. At some point I searched ‘tarck bike’ and ended up here. I immediately left when I saw the pyb thread was full of road bikes and shit. Came back a few months later when I realized the errors of my ways, joined and I’ve been here on and off ever since. Can’t stand any other bicycle related forum.
Realizing the error of my ways. Thank Tarck for that as well.
And thank Tarck for dyno lights. They kick ass.

Jah bless you kyle
Here’s this circa 2007 which will not be new to most of you:
I got banned for suggesting that Brian look into some non-violent communication techniques during the Thomas Masini Affair. That and Deathhare and I had swapped login info months prior in order to troll harder and he ended up calling Brian out as being part of a NWO conspiracy using “doofo” after “deathhare” had been banned.
Who is andre nickatina now? Edit: JerryTruck right?
