I am confused as to why anyone would use those fragile, expensive and unreliable tires when so many better options exist in the world.

Because they roll awesome and are extremely lightweight. It is a shame he won’t do some basic things to make them work safely tho.
But that’s all moot if you get flats constantly or they blow off your rims.
And, personally I’d rather have a middling tubeless tire than an excellent tubed one.
Ok, thanks for letting everyone know!
ohhhhhh … sounds like Torrey, no? that guy is strong af.
I recall last he was running Jon Bon Jovis on that bike, though.
700x38 compass EL tubeless felt fucking amazing like riding on nothing at all, until it blew off and I faceplanted
with a tube they feel like a mediocre tubeless.

oh, I think you’re right.
So 60 psi on a 35mm makes a more sense for a big guy
yes they were Bon Jons
all their newer gen tires now come with a “Tubeless Ready / Max XX PSI” sticker on the package
those maximum pressure ratings are all about double what could possibly be safe when tubeless
now I’m scared i’ve been running my spesh roobais 30/32s (that measure out to 35) with way too much pressure.
is 60/50 too much?

Based on Jan’s/Compass’ demonstrable unwillingness or failure to understand tubeless, I just convinced my oft-mentioned friend with a Radlawn to get WTB Horizons rather than the suppler alternative.

I’ve been running my rear at 60-70ish on a DT R460 and it’s been fine under my fat ass. Hoping I didn’t just jinx things by posting this.
60psi doesn’t sound unsafe for a kosher TL road tire. Spez would have to plan for morons doing 90psi.
70 seems high, missing the comfort range, but I’m 160 lb.
Yeah, I’m sure the Specs arre over-engineered and idiot proof.
Can’t wait to try out the spec 30/32s after I kill my schwalbe ones. Bought some for sup that she used briefly, but I’ll probably leave the nomads on her ‘road’ wheels of her cross bike, because I’m a monster, and she doesn’t do more than 20 miles on them or trainer/rollers.
Why such the high pressure? Kinda negating the suppleness. I’ve got 35 gravel kings that I try to keep around 45-55psi and I weigh about 210 naked. I’d really like to get a legit tubeless rim so I can safely run 40-45psi. Y’all needs to lower your pressures.
i just wrote like 3 separate drafts for long posts about tire pressure
then i went to grab a beer from the fridge and came back and realized what i was doing and i’m just gonna go do something else now

We should all do this more.
Update: one of my Horizons is still leaking air. Why can’t I just have things that work.
