Tire Chat

Things are boring if they just work

Actually didn’t urethane the little hole yet because my urethane got all dried up and REI didn’t have any Freesole and I ordered it off Amazon. Maybe tomorrow. And if that’s not the issue then I’m going to set these tires on fire.
i just wrote like 3 separate drafts for long posts about tire pressure

then i went to grab a beer from the fridge and came back and realized what i was doing and i’m just gonna go do something else now
I want new tires for my road bike. Austin bike lanes are covered in broken glass so I want something thats 32mm and fun but too much supple will probably result in flats. I’m looking at Gravelking SLICK, Clement Strada LGG, and was just reminded of that Specialized Roubaix tire (that one is a little pricier than the others if ordering from bike24). Seems like everybody here likes the Roubaix but has anybody tried the other 2?

I’m hoping to try the Strada LGG once I kill off the current tires on my road. Tread looks good and bonus gumwall points.

Currently running the refuse in 700x32, only had one flat in about 1k miles in broken glass streets, running them tubeless though. Not the most supple tire, but predictable grip and smooth rolling.

Have you guys tried Gatorskins?

I’m kidding. I’M KIDDING

strada LGG in 28 is quite good, i think i just commented on it on the previous page. i’d still prefer to go tubeless, especially if you have broken glass issues. i thought the strada was pretty durable when i ran it with tubes, but it doesn’t compare to the schwalbe pro one 28 tubeless on any dimension.

I wouldn’t panaracer for broken glass.

Tubeless

Tubeless Specialized Roubaixs.

Would love to do tubeless but I’m riding Open Sports until they die. 36h Open Sports. lol

Anyway is the choice still the Roubaix if running tubes?

Try tubeless (with TL tires, cuz the bead) on those rims ↑
You may need TL rim strips, or a build-up of rim tape.

Just wanna say that sup has been riding tubeless pari-moto’s for ~2 months now. A23 in the front and Crest in the back. Pain in the ass to tubeless the A23 and more tape than I care to say publicly but no face plants! Crest was easy and doesn’t scare me at all.

We’re doing lu lacka wyco hundo (local gravel ass kicker) in April and I think I may throw a tube in the front just for peace of mind.

Look at you camping out on New Years to sign up for pat’s race/ride. Kinda jelly, but I also don’t care to
Sign up tthhhaaaat early for a race. Am doing monkey knife fight to prove how not in shape I am.

gucci polo and i signed up in my kitchen at midnight. <3
at the time i was still planning on doing crush the commonwealth as my last hurrah as a non dad (llwh was the backup plan for the same week) but i haven’t trained at all and dadlyfe is on hold so lu lacka it is!

Any suggestions for a 650b tire for with flat protection? Its for a mostly bike-newbie friend who lives in NYC. How’s the pari-moto gravel?

Doesn’t soma have some perfectly turdly flat protection tires in 650b? also there’s a marathon that would probably be perfect(ly hateful) for riding with no flats.
