So I wanted to get a low-rider rack for my new bike. I wanted another Tubus Tara, bike company couldn’t tell me if it was compatible or not, but the chart on the Tubus site suggested it might.
I decided the easiest thing to do was test fit some of the racks that were already on my bikes. First up I have this old Tara that’s been on my LHT for about 12 years:
Angles are pretty good, and there is just enough clearance to get the axle out without removing the rack. Clearance on the little fender mount is tight but should still work fine.
I also tested this newer one that’s on my Big Dummy. The angles are ass on this one on both the Big Dummy and the new bike. They changed the mounting tab, which probably improves compatibility overall but it no longer works on my new bike because the angles are all bad and rack blocks the thru axle in every configuration:
Anyway this felt like appropriate fodder for this thread because I couldn’t just use the one from my LHT right now because I attached the fenders to it and the strut lengths are too short without the rack. I couldn’t just buy a new one because I’d probably get one with the updated mounting tab. So I had to go on ebay looking for a used one with the old mounting tab, which I successfully did this morning
