What did the bike mess thread get renamed to? / post your bike dungeon

The basement is finally, for realsies, waterproofed, and I had to put the shop back together. I think I’m at 90% here.

God damn I have basement-envy…
Where’s Di Soundsystem™ though?

Over my ears, wireless headphones!

Wireless headphones are great and I use them all the time, but sometimes the basement needs to bump!

But man, then you can’t feel Dat Deep Sleep Bass™ (or bump the fuck out to Lizzo) rumbling the fuck outta the floor when you are home alone…!

No shit, I was just listening to Lizzo this morning. Those noise-canceling headphones are a nice thing to wear while blending my depressing morning breakfast slurry!

moved into a new place last month and working on getting the garage turned into a legit bike dungeon; built a new workbench this weekend

Awesome! Makes me want to make something actually purpose built for my dungeon. Also, please post current state in a month or so

I’m thinking about getting a big piece of Formica counter top to bolt to my work bench to gain some square inches and a soother surface.

i’ve been taking some time to go through all the accumulated bike shit. not sure where i ended up with so many brake pads. Apartment living is fun, after having all of this plus more in a full basement. The tandem is a living room accessory and conversation piece. it matches the couch.

Lol. Looking at that picture made me realize I can totally tuck the toolboxes away in the alcove and still fit the tandem.

Is that a steel base for your work stand?

70#s of steel, baby.
It has a hightech cardboard coating so i can slide it around the carpet as needed.

Will it hold the tandem? Trying to figure out what to do with mine, I’ve got some wooden contraption with casters I made. Need something more legit, but I’m really enjoying the mobility casters provide.

oh totally. with the tandem it’s all about finding balance points though.
i mostly clamp ours on the stoker seat tube and rest the front wheel on the ground. it puts the controls at a good height for me and takes some of the weight off the frame. plus i’m hardly ever screwing with the front wheel.

also, nice box

very tame storage here. kinda sucks to work on the floor in my living room, but luckily there’s a great co-op just down the block.

can’t rotate images in markdown so enjoy!
