What did you do to your bike today?

gotta have a first oopsie

Wind tipped my Soma DC into a bike rack on the first ride. Quarter-sized top tube dent.

Well that really sucks a lot. Makes me feel a little better about my paint.

If it doesn’t get scratched and chipped it’s not getting used. Now that you’ve got that out of the way you don’t have to worry about it anymore.

[quote=jimmythefly]Squirrell I am making you some thingies to test.

Heck yeah! Thanks Jimmy. 3D printed solution didn’t even cross my mind.
I had a dream last night where I redesigned the metal bungee hook in orange ABS plastic (that we have at work) to perfectly interlock with your design. Maybe it could even be keyed.

Bought the fender reacharounds from River City Cycles and installed them on my Nerdavinden. I finally have full coverage on my 32c tires, feels good. Ditched my nitto front rack in the process, I’ve never really put it to use, and my frame bag works too damn well.

Wow, thanks Jimmy, these look awesome. Also big thank you for delivering these directly to my house.
I would like to nominate you for the Tarckbear golden trashcan award in 2017

those are sweet! every other solution I’ve seen is less than elegant.

what size are the bolts?

replace with aluminum for weight and squirrel matching anodize game?

I hope they work well. Main concern is the OD where the hooks go -if that is too big. And also if in use the part splits at that location. Which would not be catastrophic as each half would still act as it’s own little clamp. I made a revision with a small bridge across the lowest part, thinking maybe that would help even more with hook retention?

It seems that 14mm is very close to 9/16" diameter. So this would also work. You know, if you had any interest in CNC anodized bling.

Screws are M5

Jimmy you must be up for a lifetime achievement are or an honorary tarcktorate by now.

I personally think that it’s kinda cooler being plastic. I mean it’s in a pretty low damage zone and might as well shave a few grams if possible.

could they just as easily be M4 or M3?

maybe with tapered countersinks for flathead screws?

I could probably go to M4. M3 I’d start to worry about the nut spinning too easily and not enough surface area under the head. Countersunk isn’t good as it can act like a wedge creating a crack in the part if overtightened.

Tap the plastic for a helicoil instead of a nut?

Added pedal washers to Endpoint. That extra mm makes it play nice with my winter boots.
