What did you do to your crosscheck today?

After a winter of walking we had a few 50* days (and 6in of snow yesterday, but whatever) and I decided to actually take care of all the maintenance I’ve been avoiding since the fall.

Fat Chance got bullmoose bars and swapped the knobs for powerblocks.

Campeur got a new old ultegra rear wheel to replace the clapped out hub on the old new wheel.

Nishiki got the dead rear shifter pulled and everything prepped for the new one thats in the mail.

CDale mtb got a brand new 10spd Sensah group (how (good) can a RD, shifter, cassette, chain, and chainring be $70?), still need a shock pump, grips, more zip ties, and a rotor truing, but inching closer to being rideable, probably by the time the trails are dry post snow melt.

is that your basement?

It’s the shared basement in my parents condo, who are my next door neighbors, and graciously let me keep all my bikes there because the basement in my apartment is furnished and not useable.

Got a box full of dead ender bits from @asterisk and started putting this $100 mystery specialized frame together.

Glad they’re getting a second life! I left both shakes in small/small for when you get around to installing cables.

92 Allez?

Most likely an Allez from the early 90s. Geometry is right…it clears 32mm tires pretty easily which I didn’t assume would be the case for an Allez but I don’t know much about such things.

I wish we had “USER REGRETS THIS POST” with the original content preserved instead of “(post deleted by author)”.

If someone comes in real hot and is also wildly wrong, I want to see it!

Finally took off the yellowing spoke protector on the Sam and discovered that the circa 2017 Silver branded rear hub has an 11 speed freehub body on it. I did not expect that.

Time for DI2 then?

:smilegrant:

lol, maybe a carbon fork too and send a picture to Riv for fun.

Have your framebuildeur stick some dick breaks on the rear triangle and then get it very nicely repainted and then send them photos gushing about how great it is now you have put on a carbon fork and disc brakes.

Yes I know it’s a lot of money for trolling but then you’ll have a disc brake riv…

A fellow who came to one of Ronnie’s nutmeg bike camping extravaganzas added discs to a riv. Somewhere deep in the archive I have photos, though they likely also exist elsewhere.

I don’t really have the money or time for a decaleur right now so I went hillbilly on it.

Also the color balance on my phone is fucked up!

Nice. I used a shoulder strap around the steerer for a while, worked fine.

Works for now.

Power added. Bars swapped. The wheel didn’t like 11 speed cassette so it’s running 10 of 11. Seems to be working ok for now.
54lbs of bike.

Not only do I reject the Heineien doctrine that states “plastic fenders are fragile” I actively tempt its wrath by intentionally buying 700c fenders for my 26” bike and force-fit them to get a bit of extra length. Let’s see how dangerous these inbuilt stresses really are, motherfucker
