Cheap dags are available on Amazon. Not great but good enough for once a year alignments.
Don’t buy crap on amazon, go to a friend’s house, shoot the shit and use their tool.

I swapped out my derper lever on the XC bike for the $9.99 OneUp jawn. I had put a cable end on, but it got ripped off at some point. Surprisingly, the TikTok zip tie trick worked to reverse the fraying before I stuffed it into the new one and trimmed it to the right length. I had to move my bell to the other side, because it rubbed on the derper.

Even for a friction bike a DAG gets it feeling way better. Imho it’s the most useful of the obscure tools if that makes any sense, you should get one after you have a truing stand and possibly before you have a headset press.

I agree that he should buy the tool but he should do so through some retailer other than amazon. I’m sure there’s an LBS in Denver that can order one.

I started to rebuild a wheel/hub last night to try and respace it from 135 to 126. I had an old 7 speed hyperglide cassette body that I swapped on and I think if I take out one spacer on the NDS and cut the axle down, I should be able to have a 126 cassette wheel that will only need minor redishing. The plan is to run 9 of 10 on the wheel instead of the 5 speed wheel that is on their now. Next project will be to figure out what stick I use to shift with.
