What did you do to your crosscheck today?

cut yr damn grass truk mike

I live here but it ain’t my house. Friend who owns says neighbor usually cuts it as some kind of work trade, but he hasn’t yet this year.

Don’t care enough to press the issue, yard maintenance is for people who live in the suburbs and put their bike on a car to go ride it.

Man I loved the raleigh pro I had for a minute

I had a sweet raleigh team USA, 531c frame and fork iirc. I think it was the second adult bike I owned. I didn’t know it then but that thing heined like no ones business.

I picked it apart to make other bikes and eventually traded the frame to my lbs in exchange for them popping the campy headset and bb out for the frame. I think one of the mechanics rode it for a while and a few years later I saw the fork sitting in their used bin and was sad

Those Raleigh’s are one of the most beautiful tarck frames ever.

I feel you. I always have to add the 1+ hr round trip to the starting point to decide if I really want to do a group ride.

I’ve been situated near the good riding from my front door for at least 10 years, though.

i’m now right near where all the group rides head towards but not where they start. but i don’t ride bikes with people so who’s laughing now? not the people that ride their bikes to where i live to go ride bikes

Oh I should totally do this. How did you do it? What pieces?

Not much to it, just a pair of appropriately sized u-bolts with plates

If you drill into ceiling joists or rafters make sure to put the holes on the centerline of the joist to preserve its bending strength (I figured this was less important for the vertical member I used)

New crank, chainring, and pedals on the Katu.

I spent a lot of money to make zero improvement to the chainline. Longer cranks are nice tho.

Got new stem from @canti_lover on the bike today and some levers for to get the cables under the wrap. I’m trying not to change too much on this bike from stock but that is slowing going out the window. It’s a neat old bike

new hoods on the tandum
rewrapped bars on Kona
put new dropper lever on MTB

To be fair changing the cockpit on an old bike like that should hardly count as dithering. Stem looks nice, enjoy!

Went to clean up the tarck bike today, rear wheel bearings felt a little stiff.

Tore it down expecting to find some pitting on the bearing races. Found out that the bearing races were pitted.

Greased it and put it back together, seems fine.

Thanks for reading my blog.
