I almost asked him today what he would charge but I didn’t. I don’t know why but I want to wait for a bit.
That would be fucking awesome. I asked him awhile back if he had ever built a Randonneur bike and he said no and that he didn’t like doing very elaborate builds…we’ll see.
+1 on a fucking cross check if you’re on a lower budget. you can get new ones on sale for close to 300 if you shop around, although this is probably a bad time of year for that.
i wouldn’t worry too much about trail/ low trail either. I have put a front load on my crosscheck and ridden hundreds of kms with no ill effects, in fact in a state of deep bliss.
The crosscheck’s ht is a bit low, so you might have to put in an extra spacer… not a tdb.

this.
i’m sure a light load on the front won’t destroy the bike. maybe it will make handling a bit weird but unless you’re riding 200 400 600 or 1200K who cares if the handling gets a little weird with a bit of weight on the front…for kickin around town i’m sure it’d work ok.
the headtube is an easy work around. just use an extra spacer and use a 6* stem…and don’t buy the size that’s sized like a tarck bike.
the only neg is that i see like thirty of the damn cross check or double cross a day…but that’s probably coz it’s a damn practical frame.
