[]Ask White, I guess; that one looks like a Ti rear hub, but I’m basing my guess on image searches.

]Yes; ask White for the parts you’d need.
[*]In my experience, no – about half of the machines at my house are running with wheels that I’ve relaced at least once.
is this wheel discussion thread also?

what is the hot shit y’all bros are recommending, around $1k bong pricing, for a wheelset? for a customer. prebuilt or byo. road.
Belgium or Pacenti rim. Would say archtypes but just not down with that ano brake surface on bikes that will actually be ridden
Sapim CX-ray
Pick your poison on hubs… King R45 (we do this build with QRs for $999) or DT 350 for a couple hundo less. Also had good luck so far with Sun Ringle city flea which saves a bit more.

With the lower price on the Pacenti over Hed we are speccing builds with CX-ray and Sun Ringle hubs at $675. Can’t beat that shit with a stick.

fukka mavic

thanks!

are you getting most of these direct (Ringle, Sapim, Pacenti)? Why the Sun Ringle over Ultegra, say?

Sun Ringle (or Some Pringles as the staff has dubbed them) are lighter and come 24/28/32.
They pop up in Hawley from time to time but we just got a direct account a few months back.

Sapim is through KHS bicycle parts (not KHS bikes).

Ultegra is good but I’ll take the ease of just pulling bombed out sealed bearings over time consuming loose ball overhauls any day. Plus freehub mech works well and is super easy to clean/service.

Tell me more about the fleas. I’ve seen them at Hawley, but haven’t tried them yet. What’s the rear hub dimensions like? Internals?

+1 on SUNringle’ Flea hubs. Light & easy to service - only real drawback is the standard one about cassette cogs digging into the aluminum freehub body. Also the early version of the front hub had a tendency to crack the flanges, but the design allows them to easily be changed. I’ve got quite a few pair in service from my days as the wheelbuilder for Hayes.

Internals are basically the same as what they make for the notubes stuff.

Front bearings are a little small and we have had a couple come in with the bearings not fully seated into the hubshell so you want to check that on any you get. Other than that so far so good.

I had a flea (cut out of a trashed SOS wheelset) that was light and stuff, but the freehub would never shut the fuck up. I had to pull it and clean and lube the pawls almost every week to keep it from creaking. Fortunately, that only took about 30 minutes.

Yeah looks interesting, a cheap asian cnc road hub without the weight-weenie compromises

Just ordered spokes for my Stan’s to Diore XT wheel set that I’ve had the rims and hubs for for like 1.5 years.
I’m stoked to finally have handbuilt wheels on my MTB.

please designerbros make me one of them full page vogue ads

with a LPC-approved twiggy model exposing a lot of heavily bronzed skin

whipping the shit out of a freeride bike around a dusty switchback

with Diore in large white type superimposed in the empty third (and XT in the counter of the D)

Haha that’s my favorite typo I’ve ever made.

hey tarck, how about this for my on/off road bike:

28H archetypes f/r
bike hub store MTB162 front, 252 rear disc hubs
sapim race 3x, alloy nips

y/n?

sux. get a car hippie.

Fukka alloy nipple to save like 18 grams a wheel.

Here’s a cheap and fairly light hub option. I built my Shawver race wheels on 32s. So far so good. At my size going full weenie seemed like a bad idea.

seriously yes. That. Fukka alloy nipple.

yeah, i went with brass on my last set of wheels and probably will here too.

i like those WTBs. i think i got the BHS idea from you? weren’t you considering these?

You went brass as if there was a choice?

No need to ever consider alloy nipples unless you’re building some serious weight weenie shit and even then, you probably should just stick with brass.
