what i wonder is why some people rig up double straps to SPD-SL’s on the track. single seems like it’d be plenty for the purpose.
I’ve not seen anyone using doubles, that I can recall. Even with slotted cleats and traditional track pedals, it’s almost always a standard “track” single-strap (with the big leather piece on top - MKS Alpha, maybe? All the people I race with here just use a single nylon strap.
Andre sure does talk about messengers a lot.
only as much as everyone throws around the ‘been messing since the 90’s, strong rider’ thing. which was actually really funny the first handful of times it was tossed around…
I wouldn’t tease if I didn’t love ya. Come gimme a hug.
I’ve always wondered if all of the people who are pulling out of their clipless pedals are buying them off of craigslist and using old worn ass cleats. If you have a recent pair of pedals, decent cleats, and good form, pulling out generally shouldn’t be an issue. If you’re twisting a foot or something while you’re skidding, then of course they’re going to release.
i’ve seen some jeri-rigged doubles out at alpenrose, although not all on spd-sl’s; some of them are on the dura ace pd 7400s.
tarkatina has a hard on for a sweaty messenger boi
so what
who dont
I’ve been riding brakeless lately mostly for lack of proper sized brake lever, and I kinda enjoy it. I’m thinking about sticking it out for a while and I also have the pedals in the picture in the second post (I don’t know exactly what they are because a friend gave them to me). I also just ordered some specialized sonoma’s and not the talk of unclipping is kind of scaring me.
Does this really happen frequently? Has it ever happened to someone without any apparent reason (I see people above saying they turned their foot or were wearing worn out cleats)?
I’m shopping around for a cheap bake lever I can put at the end of my 26 mm nitto rb-021 bullhorn handlebars. Any ideas on the cheapest/best bang for buck ones available?
from what i hear, if you run bottom dollar SPDs you may be in danger of a pull out.
stick to the tried and true pedals. egg beaters and time atacs seem like they’re the most popular fixed gear pedals.
so time atac is another kind of cleat like SPD or egg-beaters? Do time atac cleats fit in shoes that use SPD and eggbeaters ( I know you can put eggbeaters and spd cleats in the same shoe)?
yes.
