It only happens when it’s not ridden for a week or so, otherwise it’s indefinitely fine (which, based on a cursory google search, seems common).
It’s stored in the same bike mess as all our other bikes, and it’s only this one bike that does it. We’ve even gone as far as to give the bike it’s own spot where it doesn’t hang from the hook, stays with both wheels on the ground all the time. No dice.
My best guess is fluid seeping past the seals somehow, but it’s the 2nd caliper, is brand new, and I can’t see any oil anywhere. It’s not just squaky, it has zero braking power when it happens which makes me think it’s oil.
I have a similar problem with the rear SLX caliper on my bakfiets and now the lever has gone all spongy so I’m gonna give it a bleed, but I’m trying do decide if I should just swap in a new caliper while I’m at it. I have one sitting around and this problem has been ongoing for years so I probably should.
Last bled my SRAM Code in May. The lever pull is feeling long again as of today’s ride and on both brakes at once. Goddamn. Am I OK with this? I guess I am “don’t have $600 to spend on new brakes” OK with it.
My bike is generally falling apart.
I received a DPX2 with my new used frame and sent it to Fox over the winter but haven’t put it on yet. The DPX2 that is on there feels like it has nothing left lol. Or maybe that’s me.
There is or was a creak somewhere in the pivots, or maybe the saddle/post. I dunno, I put earbuds in for the climb today. Problem solved.
The rear Shimano MT400 something on my Crust has never felt right and always loses pressure after sitting (a few squeezes and it’s fine the rest of the day though) even after having a shop look at it while I was sorting storage options while moving. The Code brakes on my Jeffsy work perfectly fine every single time.
yup i have a m7000 SLX rear that squeals no matter what. Cleaning will silence it for a couple hours. The brake works fantastic otherwise so I’ve been ignoring it.
We have a customer with the same issue. Just installed a new caliper and everything was contaminated again a few weeks later. This was a 4700 caliper, not grx specifically. I’m not entirely convinced that this person isn’t dealing with some sort of environmental contamination though.
