I can measure our Bullitt box if you want @Rusty_Piton :man_shrugging:

Plywood box was primarily for toting around a cute pup so maybe it was the cheapest thing that would be nail scratch friendly?
I also convinced him to try an idea: Retrofit cheap/old kayak skirt around box edge (since its comparatively short for this style bike) and stick doggo head through waist hole.
He promised to send photo if it works.

Most luxury consumer leather goods are cut by waterjet too
It takes shockingly little water
You get all the benefits of computer controlled cutting without the laser-style burnt edges

New Cero is going belt drive and 5-speed IGH. Gear range of 263% seems low for a cargo bike.

Maybe less need for gearing range if the assumption is that you’ll have the electric assist giving you torque at all times…

E assist. My xtracycle is in the same boat, and it almost has enough range.

I know we’re supposed to hate it for some reason but belt drive is fucking awesome.

I definitely don’t hate their bikes and would probably own their original had I been able to test ride it, or if the blue was in stock earlier this year when they were still on sale.

With Shimano’s description of the hub, I’m just wondering if/how the low range of gearing suffers if hills are a consideration.

The NEXUS Inter-5E layout of the 5 gears perfectly matches higher speeds normally reached by e-bikes

The IGH part and being able to shift when stopped would be pretty great. I’m having to relearn shifting and to try to remember to shift down on the Lorry before getting stopped at a light.

Shifting while stopped is amazing. Electric IGH beltdrive is so so sweet. I haven’t touched the drivetrain in any way since I bought the bike in February. I’m not even sure how to remove the rear wheel lol.

hey, should i buy a kona ute for $500? i realize it has limited utility for cargo, but i have a car for that. just looking for a better way to transport a 2.5yo human child than the chariot we’re currently using.

$500? Sure, why not?

also, what’s the best way to fasten the toddler to the bike? i’d like to do something more secure than just a bare platform and seatpost-mounted handlebars, but want to avoid just slapping a full-on child seat on there. anyone have any experience here?

Xtracycle and tern have all sorts of dealios that work, but for a <4 or so I’d do the seat since they might get distracted and climb out while you’re pedaling.

my neighbor was riding around with her 10 month old daughter in the child seat. and then the seat fell off! my son came running in the house saying SIMONE FELL OFF HER BIKE and i was like dude…simone is 10 months old she can’t ride a bike. but my son was right! simone made a hospital trip and seems fine. RIP rich the husband who installed the seat, though.

fuck.

this one’s pretty tough though…

We’ve got the Yuba monkeybars, worked pretty well from 3.5 years old.
The previous generation of these: Adjustable Monkey Bars for Kids - Yuba Cargo Bikes
I just added a cut-down pool noodle on the rear bar for a bit of comfort.

$500 ute is instabuy! I’m so tired of hauling out the weehoo or chariot everytime I wanna take her on a ride.

They pull fine and all, but would be so much cleaner to be just one bike.
