You're gunna hurt yourself: Carry Shit Olympics (aka the Cargo Bike thread)

my non pro understanding of this solution is to make a keyed interface where a smaller bolt just holds the parts together, but the actual shear is managed by the shape of the parts. I don’t know what this is actually called so can’t search an example

Stand-up-paddle female partner has really decided to go all out now she has a GSD.

Thats a shitload of food and some paint.

Trying to talk Ash into getting a GSD. It’s such a cool bike.

i’ve done similar quantities of la croix on the front of the party hardrock and it’s kind of shocking how not-terrible the handling is

even 40lbs of kitty litter wasn’t bad

If that Ebike tax rebate comes through, I wish I could get an ebike that both me and my fiance could ride, depending. The GSD looks great but I’m not sure I could stick it on my car rack. Tern Vektron looks nice too but I’m like 30 pounds over the weight limit. I can’t win!

What kinda junk ass cargo bike has a rider weight limit?

I think most Terns with the folding joint have a rider weight limit around 100kg.

What’s this bag I want this bag

In college we had 3 dudes on a kona ute, pringled the rear wheel over the course of 8 miles or so

Custom bag, I posted a little about it here. It’s basically a clone of the good ol’ Monkeywrench X Porcelain Rocket rolltop bag, except sized up for the Wald 157.

Thanks! This is exactly what I’m trying to make, except based off my reload basket bag.

This is why 622erd long tails are a dumb fucking idea. Even with a nominal weight limit of 400lbs. the 20” rear on the xtracycle will not be the point of failure.

What’s that basket setup? Is it just a giant Wald? I have a RockHopper from the same era that needs a new basket, and I like that yours is huge and that you could mount your light on the strut. Speaking of, what’s the little mounting guy you have for your light?

That mount looks like a chunk of old chainring to me.

I think you are talking about the @adem bike, but I have also used a spare disc caliper adapter to mount a light on a Wald stay like that

If you were talking to me, yeah, it’s a Wald 157 “Giant Delivery Basket”. I could have sworn I’ve posted pictures of the rear corner mod for shake clearance on Tarck before, but I can’t find them, so:

Looks like I replied to the wrong person. Sorry @Dr_Shart_Attack_PhD.

@adem - thanks! I’ll have to take a look at the 157 and see if I can fit it.

if you have drop bars, the answer is probably “no”, unless you have particularly wacky bars. The basket itself is ~500mm wide at the top.

The bars on that bike are the widest Crust Towel Racks, 675mm tip-to-tip in the drops, maybe 560mm-ish at the levers.

Great for a flat bar bike, though.

It’s got flat bars, so sounds like that might work. Thanks!
