I can picture you trying to read the map in the map pocket as the bag violently bounces up and down as you cruise down the road.
I never owned a fixed gear (I know)
But this is the first bike I had as someone who decided they wanted to be into bikes
It’s a Spaulding brand bike I bought at a thrift store in Sacramento for $40 or less. I distinctly recall riding it around at least for a little while with the stem wedge slightly visible — I didn’t know what it was.
Eventually the rear wheel taco’d when I was going around a corner and I fell over. I bought another old road bike that really awakened my interest in riding bikes.
That bike’s last form was this, pictured on one of my first Seattle bike camping trips:
