A safe space to complain about jackass humans

No it is a line of Lego. I was reading above as if it had something to do with the show Friends, which I guess actually it doesn’t either? Just the idea of friends. Lovely!!

It is a separate line (like City or Space) that was marketed to girls with its own characters, etc.

i hate the friends minifigs. they can only attach by their feet and their hair sucks at staying on.

but the sets are rad

I exercised considerable restraint to not buy the Senna McLaren set or any of the other cars on display. glad they didn’t have the technic 911 out

No specific gripe today but I’m kind of in a mood about the state of the driving around my kid’s daycare. I drop her off and pick her up in a stroller every day. There are other walkers but there are also a lot of parents that I know live very close and still drive nearly every day. And then there’s the huge SUVs that are constantly trying to Tetris their way into this little parking lot just so they can leave their car running while the dip inside to get their kid. Let’s not forget the handicap spot that the drivers treat like a free space - I’m not even particularly concerned that someone with a disability isn’t able to park, it’s right next to the door and people fucking idle there all the time!!! And finally, people are nice and conscientious enough driving in the tiny lot but the second they are out on the road, hold onto your dick because the pedal is on the floor and the phone is in the hand (while rolling through the Stop sign of course).

Everybody was wilding out again today, I think because of the presidential visit traffic. And it makes me want to fuckin scream!!! I’ve resisted the urge to impotently vent my spleen about this shit in any neighborhood Facebook groups so y’all can enjoy instead

man this brings me back to the daycare we used outside Boston when our son was fresh. same exact issue with the wheelchair accessible parking spot. i am not conflict averse and would say “please don’t park there without a placard” and routinely hear “I’ll just be a minute”
like yeah I know why you’re here thanks just choose a legal parking space

People do this by just blocking the wheelchair ramp / door and idling in not a space at ours. I routinely park the bakfiets between them and the building in a way that blocks their entire passenger side.

Astonished since I moved back up here at the explosion of suburban-style expressions of wealth (mcmansions, huge trucks, graduate yard signs, etc) in that neighborhood. Also wow, that school is just an incredibly different place than when I went there

Yeah, Andersonville is out of control. It’s the children of all the white-flight suburbanites moving back to the city to raise their families and bringing their suburban ways with them.
The school isn’t a good fit for us culturally atmo.
We’re trying to get him into one of the good CPS neighborhood schools I guess. I really like the Montessori philosophy and teaching style though so I’m torn. There are like two CPS Montessori schools and they’re nowhere close to us.

parked two feet from the curb too, nice

My least favorite neighbor has a Tundra ROCK WARRIOR and I’m positive you can’t see a child 30 feet from the driver’s seat. Watching them load an infant into a car seat in that thing is mind boggling

They really should tax big trucks more. Men be like “BuT mUh tRadEz” so then register it with commercial plates and be subject to tax board audit…don’t kid yourself you’re actually a white collar middle manager

I like trucks but the externalized costs in city use should be accounted for

Also yay

dude showed up to camp in his lifted sierra 2500. watching him try to put a 4 year old in the back was hilarious. why would you want to go through that every single time you get to your destination? i do not get it

The commercial plates thing boggles my mind sometimes. Like, clearly often the truck isn’t being used as a work vehicle unless part of that person’s line of work is picking up a latte at Starbucks.

lifted trucks for anything but a dedicated rock crawler make no sense, most trucks can fit a larger tire without much if any of a lift and that gets you more functional clearance. my ideal is 33" on stock ride height with useful travel

The dentist forums discussion on police traffic enforcement is pretty disheartening

shame on you, vertical doug
