Such bullshit. Construction company owner plows down a teacher riding with his son, cops on scene spin a bs statement about what happened while not seeking witnesses, and the court system does less than nothing.
This hits hard because I used to ride that stretch fairly often. Our trail group built a whole new system of bike trails in a park immediately near the crash site that folks on that side of the river ride to. Cyclists are a frequent presence in the area and yet…no consequences.

What would tarck do in this situation?
This car has been parked on my block for several months now. I haven’t seen it move but the owner revs the engine at all hours of the night and at earth-shaking volumes. He was in there revving and revving while I was walking the dog after dinner last night and it really fucked me up. My heart was racing all night and I couldn’t sleep.
Sometimes he does it at 3:00am. He’s terrorizing the whole block, but nobody in my neighborhood calls the cops.
I’m not sure what to do. I don’t want to call the cops and I certainly don’t want to go out there and confront this obviously dangerously unhinged individual, soI don’t know what to do about it. I reported the car as abandoned since it hasn’t actually moved all winter and will continue to do so daily, but that feels like a waste of effort.
Man. This is how I feel about the now 2, plateless chargers that get parked all over the sidewalks on my block….
The grown up Tarck answer is to ignore it.

Mostly I ignore it but this grown-up tarcker is more frequently narcing illegal parking on the 311 app. They send parking enforcement and not a cop. Sometimes the 311 request gets a response, sometimes it doesn’t, but I feel a little better doing it even when there isn’t a response.
I mean… I do that too. But it sounds like rusty is feeling frustrated by that.
Another course of action could be to document it with video/photos. And go to a police station to make a non emergency report each time it happens. By filing a report in person you dont get cops into your neighborhood and you start a record of the complaint.
Build up enough evidence and you could file a civil suit for harassment or something.
I have a Sunn PA system (8x12”) and if you promise to hook it up and crank it while making
“Vroom vroom!” Noises and record it to be put on YouTube and reap those sweet viral karma awards I’d give it to you (we’d have to figure out shipping)

Yeah, hr just sits there in the driver’s seat with the car in neutral, throwing revs into the engine.
He’s a regular looking guy in a ball cap and hoodie but I haven’t gotten a good look at him.
I really don’t want him to notice me and then direct his attention towards my house.

i’m still seething about this
yesterday i was on a ride with 4 other people and we were inched up into the crosswalk a little bit, waiting for the light to turn green.
i mean a little bit, we were actively avoiding blocking the crosswalk because that’s a dick move, however, were inched up into the crosswalk a little bit. big deal.
some absolute shitfuck decided to cross the street at the same time, we even inched back a little bit to give him even more room (dude had plenty already) and he decides to push his way through us anyway, and then shoulderchecks me before going on some tirade about us blocking the crosswalk (which we were not blocking.)
dude was on some shit about “YOU ASSHOLES NEED TO BE MORE RESPECTFUL” and “I HOPE YOU GET HIT BY A CAR”, basically the whole script.
old me/us would have went gangbusters on this dude but it was highly ironic because we were literally just having a conversation about “people are crazy these days and you can’t just go starting fights over traffic shit, it’s best to let it go.”
So, I said to the dude “i hope your day goes better, man” which of course sent him even more over the edge, so now he’s just screaming shit as he’s walking away.
really weird and i’m still mad.

I’m glad he caught you at a good time. I go back and forth between letting things go and wanting to do a murder, though thankfully these days the murder waves are far less frequent.

it was a super nice day and we were all having a good time, which helped.
i just can’t imagine the line of thinking “let me just go push this random dude surrounded by other people because 1v5 is definitely gonna work out”
considering that he looked like how i imagine “barstool sports” would look if he was a person, he probably had a gun too.
