These guys were probably in elementary school (or day care) when all their bosses had their gigantic losses subsidized in 2008
Bicycle infrastructure designed to never ever inconvenience an automobile
And here’s some pedestrian infrastructure designed to never ever inconvenience an automobile.
I was walking the dog and this car was parked like this for at least the ten minutes Clem was sniffing around. Not a quick in and out delivery.
There were at least five empty parking spots within fifty feet of this car.
Carbrain is unstoppable.
edit: oh wow just got served a NYP post. That’s a first.
happy winter bike to work day! got called an “ugly motherfucker” and wished death upon by someone in a car today
This jackass drove her car into the lake! She’s lucky to be alive, probably should no longer be allowed to drive a car.
I love the fucked up language around car crashes. “A woman was seriously injured after a vehicle crashed into Lake Michigan”. Um, shouldn’t that say, “A woman was seriously injured after she drove her vehicle into Lake Michigan”? Like the car is autonomous of the driver and the driver bears no responsibility for what the car they are driving does. Wild, completely wild!
The vehicle just spontaneously did one of these:
Happens to the best of us.
Clearly nothing could have prevented this tragic and completely accidental accident.
On the other hand, here’s some good news! Hope it actually comes to pass.
fuck cars
ok well without a car she wouldn’t have been able to make it that far into the lake. she can’t be expected to take the subway out there! it’s too dangerous!
Tell that to these excellent weirdos!
This seems like a great idea and it will NEVER happen.
Will put a significant tax burden on folks who can’t afford to live near their work and also blue collar folks who have various job sites around the region. Will significantly benefit tech bros who only use their vehicles for recreation because they work from home.
There’s also some good points, like overall discouraging driving I guess.
Eliminating the fuel tax that helped nudge consumers towards vehicles with lower fuel consumption because vehicles are becoming more fuel efficient is like stopping vaccinations because we haven’t had an epidemic in a long time… raise the tax rate to make up for the dropping revenue or find another revenue stream.
I’d like to raise the fuel tax 25% and also put in place a per-mile tax.
I’m all in favor of use based road taxes but putting “a transponder” which is probably a GPS unit in a car that potentially sends location data to the government is . The odometer picture is a better option but could end up leading to some folx getting charged IL taxes for miles driven in other states.
I’m ok with this.
yeah, but poor folks already pay a per mile tax with regressive fuel taxes and shit cars with bad gas mileage. changing to a per mile tax is a direct use tax that discourages driving for everyone whether they drive an electric vehicle or not. being poor sucks already and I don’t see how changing to a use tax would make it suck more
