I was gonna post a pic in the ride thread but I got into a spat with a driver right at the spot where I wanted to take a photo, got pissed off, and forgot all about it

I’ve been extra cranky today after overdoing it with SPORTING ACTIVITIES this weekend. Left the house briefly on the cargo bike to go grab some lunch, thought a little spin to main street would do me good. As I approached one of the two intersections at which someone will for sure get killed at some point, I saw a BMW with illegally tinted windows completely ignore their stop sign and just keep on trucking. At the same time, there was a ratty old pickup truck driving the other way that had to stop as I passed through the intersection. As I passed, he yelled “that’s a stop sign” at me (completely ignoring that a driver just did the same at 2x my speed in a vehicle weighing 25x what my vehicle weighs). All I could muster was “ok, thanks!” and keep on trucking. Definitely would have loved to rip this dude’s head off instead.

Spotted this mind boggling sign while locking up in a parking garage. The door in question is the main door allowing access to the garage. I don’t know how else I’d get to the bike racks.

Are they trying to say you can’t just follow a car in? They want you to use whatever device you’re supposed to have to open the door for yourself?
Or is there a separate pedestrian door?
There’s no device. The door just rolls up when you approach it. It’s the only way to get in there that I know of.
well I’ll be honest you just have to wait until the door is closed, then walk or ride your bike through it. that would be permitted.

Biking to daycare pickup with da wife today and about 200 feet from the door got passed by a Tesla straddling a double yellow line that then, of course, pulled into daycare. I was ready to drop it if the driver walked to another building but since I got my bike parked by the door before the driver walked up (again, of course!!) I told them that I felt like they passed too close back there. They said they didn’t think it was too close! So I told them, ok whatever but I’m telling you this is how I felt about it! I did not litigate this further but I believe I got their gears turning. Wife, who was there for all of this, didn’t think it was that close but that I wasn’t rude. So there you go.

We need to review the game tape on that one. Generally if the far wheels of the overtaking car are in the oncoming lane (straddling the line) and I’m near the outside edge of the lane, I’m happy. It’s when a car overtakes me while staying fully in my lane that I get murderous thoughts sometimes.

I’ll just say that there were cars parked all along both sides of the street so I was nowhere near the gutter at the time and the driver was probably trying to stay closer to me than the cars parked on the opposite side!
I’ve got a responsed prepared for this that hasn’t needed to be used yet, thanfully: How about we switch places and I’ll do to you what you just did to me and we can figure out how you feel about it.

Developed some new commuter enemies with back to school in effect
On the MUP this morning i first came up about 40-50 [i assume] high school cross countriers running sprints up and down the MUP. Full width, side by side. Did a bunch of yelling to get out of the way with a couple other cyclists.
Then about a half mile later i run into the SAME THING but it’s a high school football team.
It’s going to be a long couple weeks if this persists.

Captains of those teams here are usually yelling at freshman the whole run up here. Its good for them.

My kids would be amazed that there were that many kids on a XC team!
I’d call the athletic director for the school district and give them a heads up.
Does the school not have a track?
