can you elaborate on this? did you just lean over and let the air out of his tire without him noticing?
no, he definitely noticed. Not the right decision, but it felt good at the time
ok i have follow-up questions but i choose to paint my own scenario with the details ive been given because its very, very funny to me.
“hey. hey what the fuck dude stop. STOP.”
pretty much.
riding in SF must be much worse than any other real city I’ve lived in
it was a bikers dream land of passive and deferential drivers coming from NYC
I’ve generally found riding a bike in SF to be super pleasant, but there are some very specific pain points. For instance: the roundabout at 8th and Townsend really grinds my gears.
Heading southeast on 8th and then northeast on Townsend is a very common bike route to get to Caltrain. The legal way through the intersection between them is 3/4 of the way around the roundabout (blue) - and there are multiple “right turn only” and “no left turn” signs approaching the intersection. Doing it the legal way is safe and easy. The cars are generally driving very cautiously.
But EVERY SINGLE bike share rider and electric scooter rider INSISTS on blasting through the stop sign and doing an illegal left turn, that results in them riding against traffic through the roundabout (red).
I don’t understand what people think they’re doing here. It’s dumb, dangerous, pisses off all the drivers, and slowing down to bob and weave through traffic doesn’t save any time vs smoothly rolling around the roundabout. On my bike, I have nearly tangled with other cyclists when they abruptly turned left in front of me.
I’m not an acolyte of John Forester, but when you’re on a busy commute route, you should ride in a predictable manner and not ride against traffic…?
That’s nuts! Plus, riding 3/4 of the way around a roundabout is so much fun!
right? like if i’m early for the train, sometimes I’ll do a bonus lap just for fun
In their defence, that looks like the world’s dumbest intersection. The two top streets don’t lead into the roundabout but just kinda pass adjacent to it, so it doesn’t look like a roundabout. If an urban planner wants to build a roundabout it helps to put the round bit in the middle. You can also do ovals or blobs.
Possibly some of these dumbass riders don’t have a driving licence and don’t really grok roundabouts.

I’m here for more traffic peanuts. That rules.
cowards
they should cross the roads in the middle like a figure eight and let the chaos of the Rockford Speedway reign supreme
I would absolutely make that illegal left
kinda looks like an ant
I won’t mention my first thought because this is a family friendly space …
I’ve been hobbling around the apartment for a few days with a cane but today I decided to take a short walk outside with Erin and the pup. We were crossing the crosswalk and some dumbfuck decides to almost run us over so I whacked their car with my cane. This is going to be a problem.
