does “medallion vehicle” mean that’s a taxi?
yep, and should have the medallion suspended or revoked. they are super restricted so it would actually be punitive
uber / lyft are run under the taxi / limousine commission. medallions are metal badges that are permanently affixed to the car. they used to cost $1m so drivers couldn’t afford them, they had to work for bosses that would lease them to them for a percentage of profits. they have dropped in price in recent years but are still a lot of money. it’s a pretty shitty system but it allows them to limit the cars on the road.
we have an app that we can send reports to. we get a confirmation from nypd and the TLC that they received it. the cops always drive by and don’t find anything. sometimes they call me confused because the car is always gone by the time they get there. TLC sends them a ticket in the mail based on my picture. they have the option to challenge it and I get a call from the court to testify that I took the picture and saw what I saw. they just pay up 95% of the time.
do you have a horn on your bike
yes. clearly not loud enough
bike horn that says proboscus
I had one that played ludacris
Move bitch get out the way or I wanna lick you down to your toes?
makes me want one of those hand-drill powered train horns ziptied to the bike.
There is that one that uses a compressed air bottle that you can pressurize with a bike pump. I have actually seen these in the wild a couple times
i have that. i stopped using it bc i had to pump it up after every ride. still see them around sometimes. saved me a couple of times though.
much prefer my current horn https://loudbicycle.com/
I knew that guy from college (study abroad I think?) and remember his kickstarter; good to see the evolution of the project.
All kinds of interesting weird stuff on his personal website
Works on a remote. Mount it or even just put it in your bag then keep the fob on the bars.
These guys have one for each brand ecosystem
