A safe space to complain about jackass humans

Also they don’t mention how long it took end to get to them with 100 commuters stacked up on both sides of the wreck

nearly cleaned my clock

how about let all e-scooter users ride them
in NYC, they just also need to take part in the isle of mann TT every year too since they love speed so much

great way to cull the herd

I oddly have a 3rd person connection to this driver. Their son in law reports it as a medical incident… and it is going to result in some major life changes for this 70yo woman.

Seems like a prime candidate to lose a car and gain a train pass!

I see this as a boomer+computer problem.

I’m currently dealing with a boomer who uses ai for everything.

I’m like “READ THE PRIMARY SOURCE DOCUMENT” and he’s like “ai says that this is the way”

Bro this is not the future of freedom I expected

I hope JB signs this bill. It seems like an actually fairly well thought out and nuanced plan to regulate ebikes and other micromobility devices. I heard Alexi Giannoulias is a cyclist and it seems like he’s on top of this stuff.

progressive gonna issue policies to cyber clowns?

are the “no regulation” options legal there now?

I’m just glad to see that the people making the decisions regarding the legal status of various micro mobility devices in Illinois understand the difference between a class two ebike and a55mph emoto.

I wonder if regulating and making it a pain in the ass isn’t a better path than banning them.

I dunno there’s one detail that stands out to me

Electric unicycles, skateboards, and low- or high-speed electric scooters: not allowed on streets with a speed limit over 35mph if there’s not a bike lane? That reads to me like an open invitation to later introduce rules that you can’t ride a bicycle on >35mph streets without a bike lane (“if we’ve banned electric scooters and skateboards from fast streets, why do we still allow bicycles and e-bikes?”)

also the full-motorcycle-leathers/full-face-helmet e-unicycle and e-skateboard commuters are gonna be mad that their vehicles are just straight illegal now

Only as good as the enforcement, though clear classes and some public education and public pressure will help.

There’s a weird gray area that used to be an empty no mans land because bicycles/motorcycles/mopeds/scooters/toys were clearly delineated. NHSTA regulated cars and motorcycles and didn’t want to be in the business of regulating bicycles and electric scooters and toys. CPSC did bikes and toys but not really in the business of regulating things that go on public roads.

In swoop ebikes and e-scooters and all sorts of stuff that clearly aren’t bikes only, clearly are more than kids toys, but also clearly aren’t typical cars or motos or mopeds/off-road gas powered things.

True confession, I love cyber clowns. Vape clouds, pet ferrets, toe shoes… Seattle has a critical mass style ride of them in SLU every now and then. Love them. The enemy of my enemy.

Interesting I hate the electric moto kids though. Fuck off.

Yeah, I agree. Those guys are pure vehicular anarchy and the edgelord wolf in me loves it. They’re usually flying down the middle of big arterials menacing no one but drivers.

They are the closest thing to the skateboard kids in snowcrash that our timeline has created.
