A safe space to complain about jackass humans

The refusal by Big Trucking to universally adopt truck side guards feels like a malicious attack.

Yeah, nothing written about the driver cited for unsafe passing, though obviously they were within 3 feet if the rider was able to fall under them. It was a commercial box truck so at least there is some insurance to go after for wrongful death.

I bet they gave a warning honk too. Like shut up we can hear you coming. Even in an EV

Yelled at a guy who was about to roll his SUV across a protected cycle track without looking and he slammed on the brakes but I think also flipped me off?

JA: Bought a Campy cassette an eBay and one of the cogs is Shimano. Dude’s a washed up pro and “knows what he sent,” refusing to refund.

Fuck pedalersplayground, big dummy.

Slammed the brake to avoid a head-on collision with a JA salmon ducking into the sharrow, while I was boxed into the sharrow with a column of autos just behind me. Felt the lever give a little too much when I did. Inspected the lever at a following light and saw the cable frayed. I consider myself fortunate it didn’t give up totally; it happened within a mile of home, so I could just go back and swap to another bike; and it didn’t happen when I’d be 10 or 15 miles out or, worse, like descending a bridge. Gonna have to visit the LBS for a new cable, once they’re open, since I’m guessing I only have road lever cables in the bin. Another thing to do today.

Taught gf to never yield the safe side to the salmon. She will stop and put both feet down to hold her ground.

townie salmon here ride against the grain because they feel more comfortable when they can see the cars. they then want to force you to take the traffic side when passing you.

Yeah, nah, fuck that. I also don’t yield to salmon. I’ll take the door zone I guess.

I got sick of playing chicken and sending salmon into the curb, and just started taking the car lane. Especially around Port Authority.

I don’t know I have a one-size-fits-all approach to salmon, salmon not limited to cyclists nowadays, but all the various recent “micromobility” vehicles, motorized 2-wheelers with defaced or no plates, all the way up to Access-A-Ride buses going the wrong way up a 2-way protected lane. Most of the time I don’t think twice and move on.

Hopefully I find time to re-cable it. Otherwise, yes, it might grow brakeless again. The caliper might be vestigial if not for doubling as a rack bolt.
