First time I ever met Russ he helped me move. Then we are sandwiches and played ping-pong on the roof of my building. In the running for #1 standup tarcker.

I gotta say, those last 5 minutes of med school were brutal. But in the end, the $11.50 and 45 minutes we spent there was well worth it.

hey I’ve been riding lil dirt loops before work let’s go sometime
I was hit by a car, just a glancing blow, in front of my house. I was slowing to a stop at my driveway, as a late model SUV with Michigan plates came speeding down the street. At this point, my bike was facing my house, and the driver honked the horn and as he passed me, he hit my rear wheel. I was holding my keys, so I chucked them at the car. The neighbor lady saw the whole thing, and she stepped out into the street to try and wave him down, and he sped away. I gave chase to the end of the block, which is a main drag where traffic was backed up. The driver hopped onto the sidewalk and then off again to get around the traffic, and then sped up to escape me. He turned off a few more times and managed to get away from me at 85th.
Apparently the car lives in the neighborhood, the neighbor thinks it’s the next block over. I don’t know what to do if I see the car again, except key the fuck out of it.
I am totally alright and just a little shook up. Wheel is fine, bike is fine, I am fine.

Dude with shitty BSO amazon ebike that he put together himself and totally fucked up (stripped the right crank so that instead of a pedal it had a bolt with a nut ) came in and was a total dick, petulant, pushy, condescending - he had 4 broken spokes in the rear wheel. Everything on the bike was lower than walmart quality. Lead mechanic agreed to try to help him because dude “really needed” bike for the next day, and lead mechanic is a kind guy. A week later dude calls and tells us we’ve irreparably ruined his bike, the rear wheel is in worse shape, and he wants us to do “the right thing” or he’s taking us to small claims court. The “right thing” is apparently buying him a whole new bike. I put my nicest customer service voice on and get the make and model of the bike. Dickdude totally thinks he’s winning, gets super smug. I find the bike online, it has a 250lb weight limit. Dickdude weighs AT LEAST 300lbs and told us he was doing a bike camping trip when the wheel broke more - so that’s even more weight on top of the dude’s already over-limit body weight.
I have never talked to a more entitled piece of shit. He was like the techbro version of the “speak to the manager” white lady. He told us he was going to take it to a different shop for an estimate on damages, and we haven’t heard back. I hope they laughed him out.

This is was a good lesson in why the “no online or walmart bikes” policy of the last shop owner I worked for was a good one, despite seeming snobby to me at first. No matter what you do the bike is a piece of shit, and it’s either going to cost the customer more than the bike is worth or open you up to shit like this.

Definitely call the cops and definitely tell them about the erratic driving etc. The driver might not have really hurt you, but they’re def going to hurt/kill someone.
Saw this dude today on one of those one-wheel electric scooters and I thought he was a douche.
Then he blew a cloud of vape smoke and I realized he was a much bigger jackass than I thought.
As he sped away there were small leaves kicking up behind him and he was jamming to I can only believe 311 or maybe korn on his Bluetooth over ear headphones.
I sincerely hope he is living his dreams
