drive the 4 hours or keep the fucking campy.
is everyone buying bikes or is there a bikes shortage?
everyone is buying bikes. so many people have come out of the woodwork to seek bike advice. I am having a lot of trouble finding bikes for people.
That is the plan.
My friend sold his beat up $400 trek mtb for ~$300 last week, had over 20 contacts the same day he put up the ad.
Wow the NYC mayor is going to be soooo angry
Yeah, roommate just sold two bikes on CL
Took less than a week and they were way overpriced
someone is driving up from DC to philly tomorrow to buy my wifes very used cross check for $725
like, renting a car to do so
Since I left Colorado Iāve gotten like 5 emails about my Pugsley for sale on FB that I couldnāt give away for the last 2 years.
One guy arugued himself up in price to $750 over the course of 4 different messages before I even responded.
Wish I were there to actually sell it!
I should probably sell my piece of shit commuter. I feel like it is actually a safety hazard though. Maybe Iāll just get rid of the floppy dangerous front fender and put it upā¦
The old rigid MTBs are on and off CL here in a matter of hours. I missed out on a cool Rockhopper yesterday but like 5 minutes.
My Trance 29 that none of yinz wanted sold in two days, full price, cash. Dude looked at it, rode it in a circle in my cul-de-sac, and handed me a wad of $100s.
Iām going to try to sell my very large 90ās paramount with 2x10sp campy. Wish me luck!
As a DH World Cup dork, I really enjoyed this replay with directorās commentary style interviews with the racers. The Stevie part was awesome, obviously, but it was also fucking rad and unexpected to hear from Emmeline Ragot, my all-time WCDH crush and one of my favorite racers. She was such an aggressive rider and she was so small, so it was always full commitment.
This is like cheating! 29x2.6 plus all that suspension is like driving a monster truck it just eats up everything. The downhill was so much faster, hitting little lips and rock ramps and drops, being sloppy with line choice was soooo much fun. Also railing corners with traction. Also having a dropper is magic.
Downsides: 34.7 lbs, I felt that when climbing. Rear shock has a lockout but really I need tuneable compression or maybe an adjustable platform. I think I need a tiny bit longer stem and/or some swept bars. I think a 28t chainring might be in order.
I burped a tire, jammed a bunch of dirt and pine needles into the bead. Luckily after cleaning it out it popped back on with the hand pump. Then I heard more hissing, not sure what I ran over but Stanās wasnāt sealing the puncture. Almost too small for the dynaplug but I got it to fit and made it home in time.
For reference I have been riding this SS rigid 26er for the last 4 months, and I was off the MTB all last summer for medical.
Next steps:
- Replace electrical tape with helicopter tape where cables rub and where car rack contacts TT.
- Make lighter. Wheels? Tires? Install used XT 10sp M8000 shifter, derailleur, brakes? Aluminum chainring or entire new(but used) cranksets?
Iād stick with it for a bit before getting into alt-bars, since the position is so different
the cassette is probably the biggest opportunity for weight reduction
which wacky BB standard is it? could it use a takeoff 30mm spindle crank easily?
You should send that Cādale my way
Just forget about the weight and remember what it feels like on the way down. Youāre probably not all that much slower going up anyway. Just feels like you are. Since you have plenty of suspension on there you might want to eventually try some modern 2.4 or 2.5" tires (some of which will be as wide as those 2.6 tires). Though the Bonty tire offerings are generally pretty light, there are other variables that might make the bike feel faster with a different tire. I went the opposite direction recently, from 2.3 to 2.4, and I like the added velcro-ness a lot more than I miss feeling like Iām going uphill faster (which I literally donāt care about at all).
HFY!
wheels and cassette are two easyish avenues of weight loss, but honestly a 35lb mtb that pedals okay aināt hat bad when weāre talking 140/130 at its price. itāll rip so fuck it
Trekās BB92. Currently has a Shimano BB in it for 24mm spindled cranks. Some 30mm spindle cranks will work, but not all, depending on spindle width.
