All things NuMTB thread, now lower longer and slacker

Yeah, every mtb brand should do a “hardcore ht” in steel. Fucking great looking bikes all of them!

That thing looks like a great excuse to buy a dozen or so shiny anodized bits.

Thinking about getting one of these to put a helm and box 8sp on

it does look like a v cool fuckaround bike

Nah, that ain’t nowhere near PVD-fuckery.
Looks like a resonable modern rowdy am/enduro styled hardtail in my eyes.

This 62 degree Marino thing found on a swedish mtb-forum on the other hand…

PVD’s current deal is more about building a Size Medium bike with ~580mm reach to make the front-center that long, keeping the HTA steeper so that the telescoping fork bushings still work properly

his wacky integrated barstems are to place the grips arbitrarily

but if he stretches the bike some more he can use a standard boner stem, backwards

Though PVD’s numbers are sagged - his 65 degree head angle is more like 62.8 unsagged.

I built a super long really raked out chopper once and put a stem on backwards with flat bars and it was almost unrideable. Ended up putting the stem forwards with some tall cruiser bars and it handled a thousand times better. Backwards stems never again

Yeah, that makes sense. Forward stem has you pulling on a trailing pivot point. Backwards stem has you pushing against a forward one, like pushing rope. I bet that was skittish as shit, better off riding no-handed.

if the grips are in the same place it shouldn’t matter which direction the stem goes

similar concept to these cranks: image

No not really the same at all. You can have grips in the same spot with a forwards or backwards stem but they will feel completely different backwards stem is definitely more like a tiller. I’ve done it. Why is this a debate.

yeah, was gonna say it ain’t a pvd until the stem is literally 0mm.

also - didnt he try to pull a bunch of shit about chromag making the doctahawk, claiming they copied him and got absolutely wrecked in the pinkbike comments??

Would like to see that

I think you need a PB account to see hidden replies, but here it is, way at the bottom.

And people that rode those cranks said they felt faster :man_shrugging:

Maybe the grips weren’t actually in the same place?
