Can highly recommend OneUp, I’m on the V1 and it’s going strong without a hitch after 2 years. I’m debating if it’s worth getting a V2 in 180/210 (if I can fit the longest one) and passing my V1 on to the ht.
If you want to go a bit more budget the Brand-X Ascend XL is also fine, the lever is a bit underwhelming but works okay. There’s a bit more play from side to side when grabbing the saddle but it’s not that noticeable when riding. I have one my ht.
EDIT: about the part about buying from authorized dealers. I’d look more towards buying posts that are serviceable at home, full on death-failures isn’t super common any more.
My KS did that. Mine hemorrhaged oil all down my seattube and out the dropper cable port.
It could probably have the cartridge replaced but I didn’t bother because it sagged a little from the start. If anybody wants a 31.6 125 dropper that needs a new cartridge, you can have it.
I got the one up and it feels better than the KS ever did.
@viggen and @drwelby thanks for the brand x post recommendation, looks like a solid option. The oneup looks great but I also kinda hate my current remote so the a la carte option is less appealing
@Crustradamus sounds like yes but maybe more trouble than it’s worth and I want to ride sooner than I have time for more bike projects, maybe later
Remotes are an easy upgrade these days, at least if you stay out of hydralic posts.
I really really love my the OneUp remote. Light, easy action, super solid and easy to get into the right position. Many others like the wolftooth remote or the crankbrothers highline remote.
So far I actually don’t like the OneUp lever. Post is great, but I feel like the lever just is on the wrong axis. I mean, Vig is right that it is soft action and stuff, but even basic Giant lever feels better. Wolftooth good, and I hear PNW loaf lever is nice, too.
Guess I have to keep messing with the positioning.
I just put that PRO Koryak that Universal has been blowing out for $109 for year on a guest mtn bike. I think the problem is that the saddle rail clamp area is absurdly small. It does not look like it supports much area and will quickly lead to bent rails. TransX/brandX seems like a better cheap option.
Ordered the TranzX Kitsuma Air in 170mm drop, interested to see how a new dropper performs after a couple used posts with sticky actuation and wobbly heads
XT out of stock but I got a bunch of SLX (and XT shifter).
Also apparently you can mix and match 12 speed stuff? That would have made me very happy before I noticed my SRAM cassette is missing a fucking tooth (I started using this thing in January lol).
