All things NuMTB thread, now lower longer and slacker

Thanks for the tip, I had forgotten to check those. Transition didn’t have the ribbed ones, but Rocky Mountain did.

It’ll already be a bit of DIY to make it work (going on the gravgrav to quiet chain slap), but I didn’t feel like stacking thin strips of 3M mastic.

Found another recon on Pinkbike in great shape for 125 shipped so I snagged that. It should be much nicer than the one clapped out Raidon I have on there now.

Did you have that stupid quick release thru axle? Need to replace the 130mm Suntour on sups bike just to get rid of that garbage.

Yes so I’ll have an extra if you want it.

I remember the specialized fuse having every incarnation of dumb thru axle ‘quick’ release because of the different forks that came on the lower ends ones. So confusing, especially when they are demo bikes. And thus many busted axles when returned.

I have a Raidon on guest bike. I think the thruQR works well, it’s just confusing.

I haven’t had any problems with it once I figured out how to use it. It’s not intuitive though.

That’s the one with the double threading and articulating flare nut? That thing did my head in.

Ya the first time I tried to undo it I almost broke it.

I broke it on day 1. Some ball bearing popped out and would never stay in again. It still works though. I dunno. K.I.S.S. for God’s sake. Anyway, I just want sup to get a better fork so she likes that bike more.

Grim Donut test ride finally dropped

Pretty good watch

Very enjoyable.
When talking to Gwin about the headtube, I was thinking it wasn’t that much of a big deal since Levy doesn’t really send it. Then the test pilot showed up and I did get worried.

That Mini though.

i am extremely entertained
was that the first time barelli ever rode that track?
is PVD gonna orgasm when he sees this?

Probably gonna write some diatribe about how his way is the only way or something.

ragegasm probably

The angles are probably exactly what he would do but the reach is probably 3mm too short and he’s going to write five thousand words telling you why that’s proof that Mike Levy is a worthless dipshit hipster who should get cancer or something else totally healthy and cool.

@BEEutiful_Wednesday_DDS:
Probably not the first time Barelli rode that track, but either way he’s fucking fast riding blind or something he’s somewhat familiar with.

The angles are obviously really far out there and it’s not a “good bike”. But mellow the stupidity out, raise the bb and you probably have a really fast bike when things are pointed downhill. When in the hands of a good rider that is.

I mean the reach is the same as my Swoop…

V2 coould be something like:

  • Steepen the HTA to somewhere around 60-61ish
  • Have it be a full 29er, raising the BB some useful mm’s!
  • CSL at 440/450 with flip-chip drop outs.
  • Slacken out the STA to 79-80ish
  • Either a 38/Zeb or bigger fork up front to help with bushing overlap.
  • Threaded BB
  • Finagle bottle mounts into/onto front triangle.

yeah that’s crucial

also keep the wheelbase but pile on the frame reach instead of being so slack and use a backwards stem
