All things NuMTB thread, now lower longer and slacker

Iirc the reach was meant to be much longer but longer downtubes got prohibitively expensive?

atmo if that’s the limiting factor, either sell the bike for what it costs, dial it back, or go carbon

Pole will make this bike by 2025.

he’s been publicly angry about it repeatedly now; he takes everything about it way too seriously and doesn’t seem to understand that it’s a bit of an intentional joke

Lol

why would PVD be angry? doesn’t this prove that his bikes don’t totally suck?

Just please link us to where he’s angry

It was in the comments of the last PB article, but it got downvoted so you need an account to see it. I know I linked to it once.

Oh yeah I remember now, unless I’m thinking of another time pvd got downvoted into oblivion on pinkbike

Edit Not in grim donut pt 1 or 2 comments, for those seeking the grail

It was the Cromag bike article. All things NuMTB thread, now lower longer and slacker

PVD will hate the STA (too steep for ā€œtraversingā€) and HTA (too slack and causes binding). As for the 500 reach, he could go either way.

But he’s a genius for designing a fixture that could build that frame (emphasis his)

A 55 to 85 degree angular range for both the head and seat tubes without limitation on lateral shift allows for countless designs and far more range than any other fixture that I know. Modern dirt bicycles have head tube angles in the 67 to 64 degrees range and actual seat tube angles just under 70 degrees. I don’t know where all of this will end up but I know that I’m ready for it.

also came across this yesterday.

is the 40-to-20 comment his version of being cute?

Oh of course he’s one of the ā€œI run 40 PSI in my tires because I’m not a pussy like youā€ people.

That seems like a pretty big jump, almost like changing from a 2.1 to a 2.4 kind of difference.

He probably wanted to go to lower pressure for a long time but had chosen to die on the hill of calling everyone else inferior for not running high pressures. Cushcore was just an excuse to lower pressures to where they should be.

Like, I think I would probably run 20 psi with Cushcore and I run like 25 without.

I run 19/21 psi with no cushcore, maybe 20/22 at the bike park. I weigh 140lbs.

Somehow my riding friends who run cush core still get more flats than me. I don’t know how it’s possible. I’m gonna jinx myself, but are they just taking that much shittier lines than me?
