I’d avoid the trek because of the weirdo QR rear end.
whatever you can find that’s in stock?
Probably true. The bong+ range has better availability here, lots of stuff in the 3 bong range.
naw
Minion DHR II 29 x 2.4 3CT/EXO/TR : 955g
Minion DHR II+ 27.5 x 2.8 3CT/EXO/TR : 980g
Well, yea. There are nice plus tires out there. None of them come on plus bikes out of the box until the multi-bong price point.
that sort of applies to all OEM tires though
True, but it’s way more noticeable on the thicc bois.
Plus bikes are not really still a thing, but 2.6 is good.
Plus bikes were never in the same category as XC bikes. XC hardtails will have steeper headtubes (67*+ ish) than the kind of party hardtail that plus bikes were sort of an evolutionary step towards.
27.5 x 2.6 has been the jam ime
XC hardtail seems like the best bet for the trails here. I’m not really set on anything specific right now.
Hardpack trails, lots of climbing, some sand, not a lot of rocks.
A bunch of friends were buying Stash and Fuse 6- Fatty’s a few years ago and they seemed fun, but probably overkill for our had trails.
New fuse are 29 x2.6 I think. Still seem rad. And they have the 27.5 x 2.8 version at a lower price point. In that realm of more trail-ish is Giant fathom 1/2, whichever is more your pricepoint jam (and looks to have 27.5 or 29er models).
Chisel alway seems like solid xc bike
I stan for giant fathom
I stan for Senko
Giant Fathom, Norco Fluid HT, Kona, Marin etc. etc.
basically:
I am corrected. I still think a 29x2.4 is a better solution for most folx though.
I agree, I’ll take rollover unless I really need floatation
29x2.4 is the perfect size for mountain bikes, for me.
The hubs are pretty versatile and a 30 mm rim will give you all of it.
My 350 CL hubs came with the 6-bolt adapter, too. I think that has you covered for a long time.
