Yeah, real talk, you get used to either, coz they both so good now. Had xt on my evil and did kinda enjoy the double shift down, but it never really imposed on my riding in any way when aboard the xo1 jekyll.
So, if you have a favorite, go with it, or just go with what’s cheapest.
Sounds like you like some shimano, so just got that way. XT shifter and slx dangler coz the latter is just a dummy overall.

but they made the rear wheel +6mm asymmetric instead of Super Boost?
Only 3mm, if they follow they jekyll route, which make sense given the bike at hand. Super boost is still a ways out for most brands.
Also those seattubes are long af.
That is a real complaint. My xl on the jekyll is maxxing out the the 150mm transfer post (6’2" 34" inseam on most jeans-so probably longer in reality). Only a few times I wish I had more, but, come one, shit is so straight and not necessary.
I was looking at the GT Sensor for a 130mm rad bike, and seattube was also super long. Still thinking the trance 29 will be the winner (similar price and carbon wheels). Probably comes with 150mm post, but can swap out when it dies (which may be longer than most suspect).
But, y’all thinking the 50to01 is making a move to c’dale?
I have smaller hands and really like the shimano ergonomics over sram. Big fan of dropping all the gears real quick. Also here in Socialist Nightmare™ shimano compatible cassettes are easier and cheaper to come by. I have the Sunrace MX8 11-50 on my new bike and it’s like 50$… Their 11-46’s are even cheaper!
If shimano: follow @frank_doktor’s advice and do Deore XT shifter with SLX dangler, that what I run on my new HT (XT+XT on the fs just coz… ¯_(ツ)_/¯)

I typically go budget Shimano drivetrains; preferring the triggers. My Canyon came with SRAM GX grip shift and I’m lovin’ it. Only thing I don’t like is the gripper makes my bare hand sore on long rides; no issues if I wear gloves.
It’s going to be weird when I get back on my SLX-equipped hambike.
shimano is cheaper and more reliable IMO.
not quite the same gearing range, but i’m on bike #2 with xt/slx - full xt on this bike (only issue is don’t use jagwire housing on fully housed, it’s a bit stiff for my xt shifter) and slx shifter/xt derailleur/xt cassette on my old bike. both have worked great. only issues have been my own mistakes (friend set up my derailleur wrong and it caught the cassette shifting up due to not quite enough b-tension).
comparitively, my friends with the new nx eagle have garbage rear derailleurs, have seen a few people’s pulleys break on gx and x01 eagle derailleurs, and lots of other minor issues. and replacing their busted stuff costs 2-3x what new shimano stuff costs.
super happy with 30t and 11-46t combo on shimano. currently on the 9-46t e13 cassette, which shifts fine, but would struggle to recommend due to the constant creaking i get from the two piece design and locks you into xd rear hub.

Ok, I think this lines up with my experience with shimano vs sram for road stuff currently. The bikes I’ve built up (stock qbp stuff) with gx and apex have felt really chintzy

I know it’s silly because they’re just bike brands and it’s not like Santa Cruz is some grassroots little company, but I’m gonna be kinda sad to see Josh Bryceland on another bike and kinda bummed if it’s Cannondale.
I’m sure I’ll get over it and I’m sure his riding will still be rad, but I can’t even imagine him on another bike.

Holy shit this is so amazing! At first I was like yeah this is cool and getting young kids riding mtb’s is so lovely then 1:46 hit and my jaw dropped to the floor…
I like it but uh, one day from s curves in the parking lot to 15 foot senders like a Redbull pro. Something smells fishy.

Tarck help me pick a bike. I’ve been looking for a rowdy mid travel 27.5 bike and I think I want a Transition Scout. I have it narrowed down to 2 decisions but I can’t make up my mind.
The first choice is a meticulously maintained 2017 from a friend of mine that has been ridden for 1 summer. It has a GX build and a Pike. It’s been upgraded with Code RSC brakes. The downside to this choice it that it’s red(gross) and also used.
Or I could spend a few hundred more and get a black\grey 2018 closeout. This bike has an NX build with a Revalation(which I could upgrade to a charge damper). This bike’s build ins’t as nice but it’s brand new and also has the new SBG geometry.
So what would you pick? I’m kind of leaning toward the 2017 right now.
If you don’t like red bikes then you deserve to pay more for a lower-spec bike in a plain color.

that scout is a nice red. I just googled it. Red is a nice mountain bike color. Not a nice road bike color.

I forgot to add that if I buy the red one it is 100% getting powercoated purple this winter. I didn’t know if the new SBG geometry benefits would outweigh the lesser build.
the new one will probably have a better rear suspension because its that new good good. The pike would be a significant improvement over the revelation RC though.
