All things NuMTB thread, now lower longer and slacker

Looks fun. If it ever feels wanting, give us slightly more proper rubber. I know it is Michigan but still. At least double rekon.

so I think I am getting this

It’s a bit heavier but throw some carbon on there and it’s sub 30 pounds. A large appeal is that I could get a different link arm and turn it into a longer travel bike if I ever went to a bike park or travel somewhere more sendy.

I crashed again yesterday. Fell HARD on my ass after clipping a pedal on a root on an off camber descent. Like how a wrestler gets pile drives directly on their ass bone is how I landed. I’m sore. The ground is so fucking hard right now from no rain. It sucks. Everything is loose and packed like concrete. I want to take a mtb break and jog for couple weeks to get some better fitness and no wreck for a while.

I DIDNT fall at all yesterday which is rare for me. I am nursing a huge bruise in my thigh though.

think I’m going to creek tomorrow and now you’ve got me thinking about how bad it’s going to be lol

Hope your pelvis is ok. This is exactly how i hurt my si joints really bad one time, but without the pedal strike, just somehow slid out on a flat wet bridge and flipped right onto my back. I had a pack on so only landed on my butt/lower pelvis. Was debilitated for a couple weeks.
Now i only ride with a fanny pack so maybe it’ll protect me?

Similar trail conditions here in PA currently. The last rains we had were downpours, and those cause a sort of inversion of the trail. Silt and small pebbles get pushed to the top, and now it’s all dry and very skate-y. No hero dirt here.

Yeah I’d imagine the whole northeast is like this. Maybe Vermont got some rain? Idk.

Vermont and Maine got a bit of rain. The EWS is at Sugarloaf this weekend and all the footage is of muddy trails.

Mass was dry af. Litterlly never saw dust like that at Thunder. Granted it was almost always raining there when we’ve visited. But real dry.
Killington was pretty dry in exposed parts. Luckily the woods stay decently damp.
Coastal main was hot, so I think sugarloaf may be more of an anomaly.

Can confirm central mass was dry and dusty today

I woke up early to go ride my mountain bike only to find out it has been raining all morning and should be raining all day.

Creek was dusty but I only ate it once with no repercussions and it wasn’t the dusts fault.

i was a butthead and couldn’t get the free killington pass to frank before he passed through. if anyone needs it before the end of the season it’s still up for grabs assuming i don’t mess up getting it to you.

Should I get a DT Swiss M1900 wheelset for a dedicated bike park wheelset? I already have the tools to convert the 370 hubs to star ratchet. Just wondering if that rim makes sense for this use.

I have M1900s on my trail bike. I think the newer hubs have the LN ratchet. My eBay specials ended up just being the three pawl model, but I haven’t upgraded. I’ve been pretty impressed with the rims themselves. I’ve dinged them pretty hard without any dents.

The 28-spoke count is the only thing I would question for a dedicated park wheelset. Depending on rider weight and rock content, you might want a 32-spoke wheel.

Lots of rock but I feel like since I’m not that fast I could get away with 28? Especially with cushcore and heavy tires. Then again the reason I want a set is that I’ve been scared of opening it up over chunky stuff the past couple of rides due to the metal pinging noises I’m hearing from the rear of the bike.

Just eyeing what’s available used on pinkbike tho really and thought I could leverage having the 3 pawl to star ratchet tools already.

The rim is the M502, so it handles rocks pretty well. For those prices, you might as well get a set and see how they fare.
