All things NuMTB thread, now lower longer and slacker

That sounds like your rebound is too slow. Of course, if rebound is already on the fast side, then a heavier spring is needed.

Rebound feels good on front/back balance and popping off stuff. I could try to turn it up until it feels bucky while out riding and then dial it back from there.

My thinking about this stems from the Sentinel leverage curve being fairly linear and (as conventional wisdom goes) not great for coils. It seems to be behaving exactly as it should and feels pretty good too, but I think the new-to-me bottomless feel of a coil might have a lot to do with that. I might still be spending a good bit of time at that bottom end.

So, just signed on for a new job. New company is a subsidiary of Giant.
So i’m very e-bike curious and have been scoping the trance x ebike line.

i tried to do a comparison but i found that bike insights doesnt allow you to input a mullet? so i had to fudge it and pick 27.5 and input the fork length manually.

white is the ibis
black is the giant (just pretend it has a bigger front wheel).

other than the standover, it seems like a reasonably close match for fit? though one thing I do not understand about mullets is why you extend the chainstays so the wheel ends up in the same place. isnt tighter turning radius one of the plusses of small wheels?

Everyone… Word from the Bros is that the new radially constructed Schwalbes are in fact, magic.

Hype is that it increases the tire contact patch by 30% and increases damping of the tire as well. Fast bro says that these tires may ruin him and if he put other tires back on his bike, he would have to relearn how to ride in the wet…. because in nasty sloppy conditions yesterday descending on them was like descending a dry and grippy trail.

It is by far the most popular category release I think fanatik has ever seen. And that it came as a shock to everyone, finding out about it on Pinkbike, not via a rep or the company itself. We just lucked out that their warehouse is 10 minutes away and could swing up and get some directly from them. Almost everyone else is going through distro, so getting much more limited quantities.
Hilariously only a few people at the shop have tried them. And one even went for the mudders (shredda), but did report similar feelings. You can actually put into the tread and feel it deform more than a regular tire.

Word is that it greatly affects rolling resistance though and you are gonna run PSI in the upper 20s.

So it’s grippy but slow? Those two things usually do go together

Huh interesting. Seemed like more hype to me. I haven’t run Schwalbe tires on anything for years.

I think you also delete tire inserts with these, right? Considering the pressures.

What’s the Schwalbe Minion equivalent?

New hotness is the Albert.

So, now you pick a different tread than previously to get the same speeds? Think it’ll have an impact on designs?

I think it’s more about optimization for what you need… amary perion slayed two wet af world cups in these tires when traction is the limiting factor, but you would not run these when rolling resistance is the limiter. I see myself running these in winter only.

Restock on Mary and shredda rears coming soon the site.

Is this the version where the side knobs won’t tear off prematurely?

That was my maxxis experience.
I’ll probably bite on these soon. Though didn’t love the Mary Mary setup on the dh bike. But they are good wet weather and mud tires up front.

i purchase marathon plus by the bong load (unit bongs, not dollar bongs). when will they be porting this to their turds?

Big nerd in the bike, bro Slack claims that Schwalbe got an 18 month lead on everyone else on these… If that’s true, I’d imagine they’d get it out to their other lines faster than that.

Did a shuttle day in my old stomping grounds up in Ned. The laps are about a 1600 ft descent, but you do still need to climb 300 ft or so to get to the trail from the drop off.

It really made me pine for an ebike. Shuttling is fun, but it feels like such a waste of driving and takes so much time to organize and retrieve vehicles. On ebikes, we’d just pedal up and have nothing to retrieve at the end. We’re also going like 25mph up the road in vehicles, so ebikes would only be marginally slower, but subtract all the time loading bikes and fucking around at the cars (because fitting 6 people and 6 bikes in most vehicles is not easy).

Anyway, real glad we’ve had a good fall as mtbing is keeping me sane.

Got a couple good videos of me almost eating shit on the same feature i fucked up twice in a row (i did not try it a third time). Dunno how to get them from my friend’s iphone without them turning into flip phone quality though.

it’s the one thing my firetruck does ok at, seating six inside on bench seats and fitting 6 bikes in the bed

but fabricating a tailgate for it now to complete the setup

It should be easy for my minivan, but i have a swingaway on the back and the max weight on that limits me to a 4 bike rack.

And i have a roof box and awning on he roof so not much rack space.

I took today off and rode this thing at Galbraith with a friend that I’ve known since 1993. He broke his back and sternum at the beginning of summer when he crashed his MTB but is back at it and doing well.

I fucking love my bike, I feel like it is dialed and can handle anything. Felt good.
