Oh boy my new mtb has a race face aeffect… looking forward to it blowing up. I already noticed that I need to get the torque on the seatpost clamp perfect or the dropper has a lot of trouble coming back up to position.
The Giant dropper on my Trance is almost identical to the JD/TransX dropper I bought from Euroland.
Reverbs are awesome when they work. Just far too many people I know whose reverbs have failed, including the one that came on my Santa Cruz. And since they don’t drop ship replacements anymore, it’s a pain when it starts failing 2 rides in and you can’t ride your new bike because you have to ship your seat post to SRAM and wait a week to get a new one. My first reverb worked for 3 years with only some minor sag developing in it in the last year I had it.
I have not used a Turbine R, but if that’s basically a transfer, i’d have no problem recommending. The only downside of a fox transfer is that it has to go to Fox for service ($90 for a rebuild, much less if you work at a shop). Assume it’s the same with a raceface, but not really seeing that stated explicitly. I had a transfer on my ibis that I sold and replaced my reverb with a transfer on my santa cruz. Both have been used extensively, crashed many times, and have had no issues. At 250+ hours of use, no indication that it needs service any time soon. Works every damn time. Felt significantly better out of the box than the reverb due to the reverb’s extra snug seals.
Transfer is by far the best post on the market. Just measure twice before ordering.
*all posts will fail at some point. Keep a spare post around.
I actually do have a spare rigid post, just too much of a princess to ride without a dropper since I didn’t get into mtbing until the dropper post era, so instead I just bought a transfer.
not baller enough to keep spare dropper posts around (though have known shopbros who kept a stash of broken droppers to repair to keep as spares or to dropper post all of the bikes).

The turbine R has the fox logo on it, so I imagine its all going back to fox for service when needed. Two locals that also go jekylls and had issues with their turbines first got their Rs a month or so before mine shit the bed. So I can usually gauge when my stuff will fail shortly after they experience troubles.
I have a fully mechanical Gravity Dropper on my current MTB (bought from Tarck!), I have to admit to being tempted to try and use it on the new one (It’d have to be shimmed) or buy another from them. It’s pretty rock solid, although it has only two positions. After reading through here I can see the appeal of a 100% serviceable, 100% mechanical dropper.

Who just got the one up dropper? I’m pretty sure I am getting that with the pnw lever for my hardtail.
vig I think has them, and sup has one on her bike.
I just installed the shim, too, since she switched to flats for the winter. Took a little finagling, but seems to work like a champ. Oh yeah, forgot about the pnw lever, though sup likes her wolftooth one.
If I was buying a dropper, I’d give the One Up a shot. Good price and great reviews.

also have a giant one too and the remote is different and it definitely looks a lil different but there’s a few years between them
i bought that dead ender DT wheel and a thru axle kit, look out future here i come

Do it. Especially good at cost. I kinda forgot they were doing 200 at for the regular folx, too. Would try their lever, but sup likes what sup likes.
I have a 170 Oneup, it’s hella legit that’s all I can add. No problems what so ever and solid feeling all round. Legit remote and super smooth action.
Also use a Brand-X 150 on the HT, it’s alright and very much great for the price. Remote is pretty JA and generally bad feeling, but I’m gonna use it till it dies and just replace it with what ever.
I really like my specialized post. The top pawl is a little broken so it slips a step sometimes but the thud of the return topping out is so satisfying.
I liked my specialized, too. Three positions was great. Slightly lower was great for kinda tech stuff, otherwise you went full drop (this was prior to the multiple position cruise control).I mean, you are usually out of the saddle when you raise the seat or you brace for it, so, there was never any risk of the fast return to actually hurt you unless you were an idiot. Sorry for the idiot crew reading this.

i have the 170mm version of this on my timberlake
has a fair amount of play which was annoying at first but now im used to it. still goes up down when its cold. lever is comfy enough that i dont feel the need to get a wolftooth lever. B+.
