asploded bike parts thread

FUUUUUUU

FUUUUUUUU is right, that is terrifying.

FUUUUUUUU

Snapped the head right off a bolt when swapping cleats over to new set of shoes

Luckily the rest of the bolt came back out pretty easily. Now I have the joy of finding some M5 bolts that are wide but low profile. Normal button heads could work with washers, but fukka 3mm allen wrench. Maybe use disk brake rotor bolts?

disappointed. i was expecting a lumberjack beard and a weathered face.

I assume you have access but I’ve got a bunch layin around if not.

Are replacement cleat bolts not to be had? That’s odd. I bet SIDI sells them in sets of three and somebody has two sitting around in their parts bin.

I got ya covered if you’re OK with used bolts.

this.

^ I just don’t want to spend $12 for 6 bolts

I’ll hit you up, Jimmy

Well, I’m glad I noticed the crack before this happened while I was riding.

I busted it apart intentionally so I could see how the leg was bonded to the crown.

apparently with rolled up newspaper

It does kinda look like paper mache.

Didn’t know they made a road lefty.

lulz

woops.

This thread alternately makes me cringe and make me lol. That busted steel fork was definitely in the cringe category.

yikes rusty. you got something to replace it with?

whenever i am going fast on the road bike and look down and see the fork blades flexing to eat up road bumps, part of me cringes in anticipation of a mouthful of pavement.

kinesis has a pretty good track record with their bonded alu crown carbon forks, right? i hope so because not only is it what i currently have, it also happens to be the only affordable carbon 1" threadless fork i can find AKA directly in the middle of my upgrade path.

itt we all consider getting full face helmets

that fork had to have been damaged in shipping or somewhere along the way. i refuse to believe that can occur JRA.

It was shipped without a block between the tips so there’s that.
There’s also some scuffing on the blade there the crack was.
Something definitely happened to that fork.
The seller made it right.
