Badass bike parts picture thread

Assuming all the new hydro calipers are flat mount only?

I suspect so. Shimano is pushing flat-mount hard.

Did I read correctly that the hg800 cassette will let me run an 11s group on my 10s wheels? Game changer right there.

And good marketing too. Get lots of folks to buy new wheels so they can buy new groups. Once that market is saturated, introduce a product that brings in all the people who previously refused to buy new wheels (like me).

Holy shit that HG800 cassette solves so many problems for me

  • Fatbike is currently a 36/22 crank and 12-36 9-speed in the rear. Switching to that 11-34 cassette 11 speed cassette would be a huge win on that bike. Kinda like Josh said, I have been kicking around upgrading to 11-speed but I did not need 40t gears.
  • Road bike (that I don’t ride) has a 12-32 10-of-11 setup right now. Going to 11-34 with 11 sprockets would be bitchin’

You, you are correct. HG800 uses a larger outboard cog to fit onto Shimano 10-speed compatible freehubs. If this had existed a year ago, the wheels of my Elephant would have been much less of a PITA.

Yay, sup’s cross bike with i9 hubs can soon go full 11 instead of 10 of 11!
Not that she would be using the 11t too much in races or anything. But now I won’t have to fux with adjusting dangler and suck for trainer season.

fwiw it’s not impossible to mill down a current shimano 11s cassette to fit a 10s freehub body (evidence: my lbs has 6800 cassettes milled semi-regularly), but this is still good news!

It requires some serious nerd modification and this new cassette is convenient and can be ordered at the push of a button.

Am I wrong in thinking that this is an evolution of Cx70? Do you think it will be marketed towards cross folks?

For those who kept their 10sp wheels instead of buying up, smart move.

Now if I can just find some light ish cheap ish 10sp 28h hubs I’ll be happy

New Ultra Ortegas. The only exciting thing is the HG800 cassette, and maybe the Ultegra-level Di2/hydro shakes. Even the new mech/hydro shakes look like RS685, which is fine, but not particularly thrilling.

I also wonder if Shimano is going to leave the HG800 cassette out there as an alternative to making a subcompact crank. That’s the kind of shit they love to do.

has anyone actually seen a dura ace rotor IRL? i havent seen one yet and i look at a lot of bikes

That Dura Ace stuff is on hold. Some design issues.

I’m gonna guess they’ll do a subcompact, since big buyers are asking for that stuff.

Shimano rep says that, in a meeting, they were asked to recommend to the company “gravel riders” to test a new groupset.

does poppi even do hydro? damn it just recommend TARCK or Fred B.

Can’t fit shimano 600 levers to hydro

Shimano gives 0 shits about Poppi, which is a symptom of their own stupid problem. I think they want some guys like Barry Wicks and homeboys and girls who win DK200 to ride it.

Shimano equates gravel with racing, not corndogs. I like the feel of Shimano road hydro, but I simply cannot stand their shifters’ actuation.

dura ace is fantastic

but poppi raced dk200 this year. we’re doomed!

re: hydro feel: man I rode some version of the Avid Guides on a Santa Cruz demo mtb last month and they were FANTASTIC.
