Badass bike parts picture thread

Feeling this lately. Hydro levers feel amazing but I really, really miss the solid actuation of SRAM doubletap shifts.

caveat is that i’m using the tanpan which might foul the original, intended actuation.

Meh. sram definitely has the feel of shifting, but shimano is a lot smoother, especially on up shifts.
Tanpan has no effect on actuation I don’t think. Will know for sure when sugino cranks finally get here and I can shift 685s without it. But I have ridden mostly shimano and it feels the same. Have sram s700 10s on the coffeegrinder now.

I’m into the 685 shift actuation. Light, positive, functional. Sure as hell a lot better than the 6700 on my roadie. I haven’t used SHRAM enough to compare…

If you guys like positive shifting, you should really switch to Campy. Everything else is pretty crappy.

Campy’s good and all but what’s the hydro group gonna cost?
685 is fine for the money.

I fucking love campy shifting, and I’m probably some day gonna spend stupid money on hydro-campy stuff.
But in the meantime I’ll buy slightly used stuff from the balleur velosalad folks who always want the newest bestest thing…aka still in 10s land.

Yeah, I love 685, and there are a hundred reasons to use the various groupsets on the market. My point is just that the only group out there with a really positive, modern mechanical interface, rather than clunky (SRAM) or vague (Shimano), is Campagnolo.

Also, you really don’t have to ball too hard to do Campagnolo. You just need 11 speed shifters and a Campagnolo derailleur. From there, you can interface with any shit you want. My NFE is Campagnolo Record 11 shifters, a 10-speed carbon long-cage Centaur derailleur, 9-speed Shimano crankset with 10-speed 46/34 rings on it, a CX70 gorilla. All of this shifting an 11 speed Ultegra chain and cassette, and it works just fine.

I love Campy. It’ll get ya to the next cog 85% of the time! Like shifting a gearbox with some fucked up synchros.

pricing for ultraortega 8000 just popped up on Q. pretty normal, euro sites will probably be a little less. same hydro/mech/di2 configurations as dura ace. hood shape looks better than 685

Not on my bike. Shit works.

I assume you are on 11 speed? I feel like the shifting improved a lot from 10 to 11.

It really did. 11 has been around long enough to get used stuff on the cheap and no wheel upgrade issue like 10 Shimano wheels.

HG800 is going to make Campagnolo yolo bikes even easier. Can’t wait to get mine.

campan-yolo?

…

is this thing on?

Campagnarlo

It’s still fussy compared to Sram or Shimano. I hate Shimano’s brakelever as shifter (and no clutch) and Sram’s dot fluid so much I’m going to stubbornly stick with 10 speeds and dry dicks.

^^^^^

Shimano robot. Brake blade isn’t shift paddle.
