holy shit thank you for this, so many things I need
That Merckx is a great argument against matching bags atmo
As I walked through, I was saying to myself, “I need to see this to report back to Tarck, even if I end up dying in a warehouse fire when the solvents that saturate the air spontaneously combust and I can’t find the emergency exit signs amongst all the clutter and other lighted signs on the walls.”
this is the first time that I’ve really wanted to go to pittsburgh
I quite enjoyed my time in Pittsburgh. It feels like a pretty livable city. Parts of it are certainly in rough shape, but there are also some very nice neighborhoods. Mellon $$$ provides lots of civic supports. There are lots of good bakeries. I’m working on a writeup of my C&O+GAP ride and more about exploring Pittsburgh in the “I went for a ride today” thread.
there used to be a crazy one outside of lancaster
Warhol museum and big, messy sandwiches though
Warhol museum was great.
Food in general in western PA was very inexpensive for very large portions and good quality.
Due to circumstances outside of my control I have two matching bags and vowed to never have them both on the bike at the same time. Can’t do it.
I hear great things about pittsburgh except that if I move I want to move out of the area where there is a real winter and things rust
nice — I did C&O+GAP by myself back in 2015 and I always wanted to go back with some friends and a few tandumbs, but now I live on the wrong coast
There is a wild shop down in Mt. Airy MD that is very museum like. Definitely worth swinging by if you are in the area.
I’m from the Pgh area and wouldn’t mind moving back at all. Really enjoy it when I visit my folks.
I lived in Pittsburgh for a bunch of years and enjoyed my time there. Really nice place to visit, but I would never live there again. Not enough sun, gets very backwards politically very quickly outside the city, drivers actively try to kill cyclists. On the plus side, really cheap to live in, great food, cheap booze, great cycling.
Fair
Reminder to visit Pittsburgh more often. Was tryna get my buds to do the gap this year but they all bailed so maybe I’ll do it solo on top of the 4 weeks I’m already taking off this summer/fall
Staying in an empty apartment next door to my dad’s apartment. He has half his bikes in here while my siblings are in town. He normally stores this one in his car. Like this bike.
Front straddle looks half-straddled
good eye!
