I just did 6.5 hours on my new B-17. It brought to mind what an industry guy once said, the reason why B-17s are such a popular “Brooks” saddle is that there is no break-in period, relative to other Brooks anyway. It felt great. Enjoyed that vid. Will look up that Bonty saddle.
I’m just going to say it again, if you have any saddle issues the Specialized Mirror will be the best money you have ever spent on bicycles. It was expensive but knowing what I know now I would have paid 3x for it because it completely resolved a decade of saddle issues and probably thousands spent on many different saddles (most of which have now been resold so it wasn’t a total loss). When I was hunting one down I talked to a number of shops and they all said that they can’t even keep them in stock because everyone loves them, so it’s not just my butt.
I don’t know if the benefit of the Mirror is simply that it is padded in exactly the right places or if it is inherent to the 3D printing technology. I’m betting you could reproduce the comfort of this saddle with regular technology.
I wonder if I would like it given that my preferences have evolved towards the flattest, hardest, and moderately wide.
good news, scalpers only want 2x the list price!
Yeah I saw that…I figured I could take a risk on such an expensive saddle because I could potentially make a profit flipping it
Yeah I’m very eager to try one tbh. I’ve got high hopes. Shapewise they are reportedly halfway between the power and the power arc, Spesh were probably trying to split the difference.
Finally found a unfinished wooden mounting plaque for my version of the Picasso. Stained it and zip-tied.
New flat & wide cambium
i’ve been riding a SLR since i got into bikes in like 2001. i feel like it’s comfortable, i don’t get saddle sores unless i’m an idiot and wear dirty shorts, etc etc.
is there any reason i should try anything else?
A good saddle is magical so…no?
The only thing I can say is that saddles finally seem to be moving toward increased padding and of course shorter noses. I finally found the saddle I’m going to marry and it combines these two attributes and has been a revolution for my skinny ass. Like I can literally go 3 times farther without pain.
Holy cow, that looks like a straight up farm tractor seat.
Needs to come in John Deere yellow
That is a different silhouette.
When I read
I was excited, but holy cow I think that’s too much, even for me. I get along with the C19 alright but this new one just looks like it would rub every part of my undercarriage raw.
it’s basically a trampoline shaped like a saddle

Sister podcast to Fast Talk, ex pro Colby Pearce talks saddles and it’s perfect. I learned a fair bit of new things and also had some biases confirmed.
Very excited to listen to this, thanks for sharing
Wow. Some cool stuff in there. Thanks.
Interesting, he’s a big SMP fan. Just like Steve Hogg. I wonder if he is a Hogg certified fitter. Ha ha. Yip. Just checked.
