I got pedals, I need some shoes. I wear a size 13, or a 48-49 in cycling shoe depending. I’m trying really hard not to drop $250 on some Dominators (more like I can’t really afford that ATM).
I’ve been looking around, and every shoe that is in my size is fucking ugly as sin. I’d prefer MTB shoes because I’ll be walking around in them.
Are my only non ugly options really Dominators and Bullets?
I know, I know… I’m trying to be patient. But I’m about one slip out away from tearing my clip/straps/sylvans off my bike.
There’s a pair of Bullet 2’s on ebay now for $112 shipped in my size (48 and mega width). I forgot to mention that too. I have a wide, flat, long foot. Total Fred Flintstone. So it’s gotta be wide to be comfy.
The Bullets I think look good, but the Dominator’s just look more secure with the latching system. I’m sure it’s not a huge difference, but still.
Sidis are a good investment. They last for fucking ever.
Search out a deal on Dominators. So worth it. I only paid $130 for mine new.
Yeah. I wear 48s. The nice thing about having big feet is that every once in a while you find the good shit for cheap.

I’ve owned both. The thing about Bullets is the velcro goes first.
I’m so fucking salty about my Lake boots.
Today, the wire that serves as the lacing system snapped on the right boot.
Not in a balls-out, uphill power sprint, mind you, just cruising along at 15 mph.
Maybe stay away from fancy lacing systems on cycling shoes you’re gonna wear every day and run around and up and down stairs and shit?
I feel like alot of cycling shoes are not built for daily wear and a fair amount of walkin’ around.
Since this Lake debacle I’m hesitant to invest (again) in expensive shoes.
But I’ll be damned if I don’t find myself looking at Doms on the web every couple of weeks.

Don’t say no one warned you!

Those are the ones.
I got a bit of a deal on em for 250, but I’m planning on them lasting for many a season.
If they don’t, I’ll be pissed.
mine lasted 3 days messenging till the heels came unstitched. they fucking suck and i’m still bitter about it. also that boa lacing system didn’t last on my friend’s pair
Also, a shop friend almost convinced me to buy a pair a few weeks ago until I read your review and figured they were the same as Colin’s.
has size 48 dominators for $117.38, w/ $23.98 shipping or you can just add “tyres” / some other crap to get the total over 150 and get free shipping to the us.
it’s not 130, but it’s close enough to those bullets that it’s probably worth the premium. so close to pulling the trigger myself, right now.
i’ve been resisting the itch to go clipless myself, and just found this deal. god bless the crazy pound sterling / us dollar exchange rate.

I think all winter shoes just suck. I have the Sidi winter boot and am equally disappointed.
Don’t get the cheapo Northwaves ( don’t know about the nice models). I got some for free from a friend when my Adidas shoes bit it. The velcro on Northwaves started to come off of the straps less than 6 months after getting them. These shoes didn’t get any crazy heavy use, They were used for commuting but i never wore them aroung or walked in them and i wore other shoes while at work. I am eagerly awaiting Bolds old Sidis. Hope he didn’t stink em up too much.
size 48 in stock. 117 bucks. Fill your cart with another 34 bucks worth of stuff (they have cheap krylions, pro race 3s, and superflashes) and you get free shipping.
Just as a reminder, having owned too narrow Sidis: The normal Sidi size is quite narrow. If you know that you have a wide foot, you really need the Mega to be comfortable. Italians have narrow feet.
