@akasnowmaaan are you the guy to build my bike nerd app
Seriously I’ve been thinking about this app forever but I never wanted to be the guy to go to some app maker and be like “I have this great idea for an app it will sell dozens”
There is a lot of data available that could be scraped but there is also a lot more data that needs gathering
This app would be basic utility free to play but pay more for more.
Monetization leads to D2C sales of parts and bikes
Ultimately you get purchased by big 3 or whomever is selling bikes
I’m not that talented, I’m a UX/HTML/CSS guy who’s messing around with Ionic with a buddy’s help to bang up some wrapped web app. The stuff people are dreaming about are waaaaaaaay beyond me.
My expansion plans were more along the lines of a pro version for bike shops that they use to manage customer bikes over time, that could sneakily become a platform for more stuff like scheduling and CRM.
But, I really didn’t think about the geo stuff before this thread, so thank you for that.
How about not only a place for pressures and settings but more of a running notes database. More generally this could be conceived as a ride journal so it would be so generic as to work for any bike or really any activity. Which I guess could be a turned into a social component that isn’t focused on performance/numbers and instead more on the feel of the ride.
My first thought after reading was a running notepad of the bike’s components over time… being able to see the evolution of a build while also being able to track notes on each change
Less a feature for the pro version and more for da consumers
I think it would be cool: IF a retailer like universal or something was linked to it, you could explore like weight and price effects of potential dithers. How much would 1x11 cost? 1x10? 1x12? Oops you’d need new wheels bro. AI might be necessary for deep dithering assistance.
Imagine if someone could input their fit measurements and then you could cycle through stock framesets in different sizes so you could see how a bike would look with a slammed forward 0deg saddle and 50mm stem or 35mm saddle setback and a 150 stem on a rusty stack
Then you find the Cinderella fit from big manufacturer
