Bike blerg thread

I know it sucks for shorties (and I am among the shorties), but especially for smaller brands, the small sizes really just do not sell enough to justify them. It’s one thing for QBP to order a few dozens 38cm and 42cm Surly and All City frames to sit in their city-sized warehouse and let them trickle out over a year or two, but that sort of thing is inconceivable if you have to drop a new model to your dealers every MY.

When I was getting the little tiny Straggler for my ex, I was pretty surprised at how limited the inventory was at QBP even when they first came out. My lbs dude may have been yanking my chain to close the deal but even then they were stocking like half a dozen of the smallest sizes (or something like that)

There are eight 42cm and three 36cm Straggler frames in the US. Those frames will probably sit unsold for months, even though every shop in American could order one tomorrow, if a customer wanted it.

There are more completes, though not by a whole lot.

I mean, you could buy one for him and point it to his URL. Pretty sure http://crazygermanbikelightguy.com isn’t taken. Or maybe http://wouterlights.com

dat masi though! still needs mini rack mounts but fuck, they are hitting a price and a spec with the fancyboi.
FYI, if you work in the industry, ask nicely and they’ll hook you up a bit

Yeah, Ash and I had zero luck finding a teeny tiny Vaya in stock anywhere and eventually had to order one through a shop.

Kinda feeling this Masi Giramondo 27.5, esp with the splatter paint.

Ok let’s just do things the hard way

Did he just want a place to brag about having made his own?

Ugh, coverage from Grinduro just started washing up in my rss reader. Holy Mary we need a new marketing framework for bikes, because I’m 100% tired of: dudes vans trucks guys dogs dirt beers fellas mud coffee men pocketknives grilling males campvibes

I need some gen Z energy in the mix.

I never found it particularly compelling, but am now completely disinterested in anything happening in that scene. The marketing machine is in megadrive right now and it’s going to burn out by the end of next year.

I would love to think so, but boring dudes can go decades without a style refresh, and it’s a scene that caters to all the stuff they already like.

I just meant that the market is clearly saturated and the money will run dry in a year or two.

Guys who like dogs and vans and pocketknives should continue to enjoy those things.

And it’s going to become a parody of itself, like the hideous concept of a “man cave” became.

What’s the solution? Dry vanilla coverage?

Bruces Bettys camp vibes vans tents coffee quilts tea sets party hats bouncy castle kids cake family bikes

I won’t be happy until all rides/races are exactly like the World Naked Bike Ride

Now that Dirty Kanza has been sold, expect even more gravel conquering.
