Masi and Endpoint are the only people paying attention to the nerds right now
That se is probably front thru and rear qr because making two forks costs more than just making one for both.
The new Masi has a lowtrail steel nerdfork that’s 12mm thru and flatmount disc? That’s kinda interesting all on it’s own.
'cept they are making two forks: the Elite is flatmount disc, while the SE and standard are IS-mount disc. Pretty sure the IS-mount fork is QR, too.
I am on desktop now and can see that. Yup. Weird. I wonder if the elite is then nicer tubing in the frame?
yeah, Elite will apparently have better tubing per my brief email conversation with them.
The website describes the Elite and the non-suffix’d build as “Tig Welded Double Butted Columbus CROMR Chromoly Tubing”, and the SE as “Tig Welded Double Butted Chromoly Tubing”, so I think the SE likely has cheaper tubing/thicker walls.
The Elite also has a different head tube; integrated headset?
Kinda odd all around; I’d expect it would be cheaper overall to keep the frames+forks the same and only change the build kit. Makes it a lot easier to change up the mix of Elite/normal/SE midway through production without having to re-negotiate with the frame manufacturer if demand of each model doesn’t meet projections…
I would assume masi has been doing well enough since their re-imagining of their brand to keep going for this long so I sort of trust them.
But it appears to have cutoff optics so maybe someone in Shenzen is also paying attention.
edit: some variation of the Dosun U1. Here’s a review:
https://swhs.home.xs4all.nl/fiets/tests/verlichting/koplampen/Dosun_u1/index_en.html
I mean it looks like a great light
and I understand that 175W is like an incandescent equivalent
but if I gotta put out 175W just to power the light, that’s like my threshold power now that I’m a slow cruiser corndog guy
Can I acquire a cheap Chinese dyno wheel setup
That guy really needs to buy a better URL, I can never remember swhs.home.xs4all.nl
it’s his isp’s webspace, dude needs to timewarp to 2018
Wait is that s production yolobike with lowish trail, potentially nice tubing, and comes with dynonsetup
For under $2k?
Well golly
Yeah, they really really would have hit the nail on the head if they shipped it with a front rack & bag that were all compatible with each other.
If I owned a shop I’d push that bike to everyone that walked in
The Speccy AWOL Expert prob has stiffer tubing and is not low trail. But otherwise pretty complete with fenders+flaps, rack, dynolights.
Still a stupid limited size run. Smallest size is a 49, biggest is a 60. Even with the 650b would be too big for a lot of folk I know who are into this kind of bike.
That is very limited sizes actually. Bummer about that. But I understand from a business perspective. Hopefully they sell enough to get more size minimums next year.
those look pretty interesting. i feel like i should buy one but that is not in the cards at the moment. out of curiosity, anyone know about the masi giramondo?
