Bike blerg thread

Maybe the new Riv v-brake is extra wide clearance?

Staring to wonder if Grant’s plan is to make short runs of these new weirdo bikes instead of continuing the make the regular stuff they’ve been doing for years. Also, turn the most of the regular stuff they’ve been making for years into weirdo versions as well (Atlantis, Homer).

I like that you asked, “What rims will work with this?”

and everyone’s answer is, “It’s great! there’s only one! one rim made by one company! isn’t that easy and great?”

Also, Velocity’s tire rec for that rim only goes up to 2.5"

You might be able to get away with using v-brakes, but, yow, that would be cutting clearances really tight at the lever arms.

looks like they’ve located the bosses so that standard v-brakes are properly splayed out as long as you’re using the one compatible rim

They spec’ed Alex DM24 rims on the Clems, which are 1mm narrowr inside and 2mm wider outside. What’s 1mm when you’re already going beyond the recommended tire size.

1 rim available and it isn’t even used within spec…

The knee at the stop of the brake slot looks really close.

Can we take a moment out of the Riv hate to talk about how rad that fork crown is?

In the tune “Jennifer” by Pig Destroyer, rim-brakes on a supposed trail bike = Jennifer and her friend; Tarck is the ‘pasty slut white woman in fur coat’; Trade “pornography” for “quixoticism”, and finally, GP is the mid-fourties, balding professor.
