sure, it’s standard practice for “the industry” but i’m glad to see them called out. “the industry” in the US is really dumb anyway, they don’t even need marketing since people organically seek their content anyway

Oh no now brands have to admit that their advertising isn’t a nonfiction art project

Hate following is what I guess is call it

A few (weeks?) ago somebody posted a track frame and said it was rare. There was some heated discussion about how it wasn’t really rare. Posts deleted because inflammatory.

Over the last week one guy keeps posting other similar frames and saying “here’s another rare one hurr durr” and the inflammatory posts.

Today or last night he posted another and posts get deleted and “time outs” issued.

This isn’t really trolling this is just childish in a way I haven’t seen since jr high. Like, it’s not funny at all?

I’ve had interactions with the guy and he’s a piece of work

i’m not making this up right? riv sold gift cards as sort of “bonds” (buy it for $10 now and then come spend your $11 next year) at least once, maybe twice right?

Yes they did this and I used the Grantbucks to buy soap

Wait, 10% return? Did he cap the number of cards per person? Feel like you could probably get something interesting going with that kind of margin.
Assuming you can find another market that’s really starved for… wool thumbs?

idk what the return was but it was 5-10% i think

i don’t think you can legally do what he did. technically that’s a security. you can’t just be selling things that say they’ll be worth more in the future without a lot of precautions like…registering them as securities. at least i think!

I bet if you phrase it as buying a $11 gift card for $1 off because it’s on sale… maybe? I see shops do this all the time. Would be pretty funny if it is in face illegal though.

yeah i guess if you said it’s a 10% off sale on gift cards that don’t become viable until 12 months from now

but then what prevents me from doing that on my billion dollars of corporate debt?

i guess this:

i think it is safe to say this is an “offering of limited size”

fucking up getting out of his toe clips and then going “I’m good!” while peeling himself off the pavement is the most relatable thing i’ve seen Biden do over the course of his presidency
