Bike blerg thread

Specialized takeovers yeah? You’re right about that. I’m way out of the loop on what shop sells what around here but know that one of the closest shops to me is specialized but not named specialized.

i for one would be highly interested in danglemo

the original Nexave Di2 for sick hybrids had dual dynamo hubs

3W front for lighting and 1.5W rear cassette hub for powering the gizmos

and the gizmos included dynamic lockouts for the front and rear suspension

That stocks nothing!

Does it have a light?

Literally never been inside (except when it was Ride Brooklyn), but I’m gonna go see if they have a bike box once I strike out with my shop bro friends

It’s a fun idea but I imagine the “ultra endurance” cyclist that needs more range than a battery can provide would eschew a source of permanent drag in the drivetrain.

And also, what other kinds of drivetrains don’t need batteries?.. lol

ok but this is more of a clockwork dangler than a dynamo dangler

i see a drive belt in there too

yes this appears to be really reinventing Mavic Mektronic

with the shifting servo action being clutched to the movement of the chain, instead of a motor directly moving the derailleur sideways

Jan will get to exclaim that he alone is keeping desmodromic action alive

NGL I was to develop the dif’rnt dangler just to say there are more options

I hit every shop in the neighborhood looking for an 18mm cone wrench and they don’t have any tools

I noticed the other day that my renew cost went up $10. they definitely didn’t notify me in any way at all. it seems shady. my renew month is august, so I have time but I think it’s probably time to kill my sub

I think you can see the full leader board instead of the k/qom and the people around you. Maybe route planning?

Can anyone tell me if any of the other ride logging apps include the ability to track miles on bikes and components?

That’s mostly what I use Strava for and figure there must be a free/cheap app that offers that without the begging/jock shit

strava is actually quite bad for my mental health because it’s yet one more way to compare myself to other people who i probably shouldn’t be comparing myself to.

just as the creation of the car was the creation of the car accident, the creation of strava immediately started killing bozos chasing downhill O/Koms. Like a few in the first year or so just in the Bay Area.

For me there’s some route planning and map-seeing stuff that works with Veloviewer (which I also pay for) so that I can work on my “Max Square”. Which is all I am doing with it, and so far I’ve refused to be public or let anyone else be friends on there or whatever it’s called.

Often Strava effs up recording a ride or I don’t turn my phone on so I just use gpx.studio to create tracks and then put those in Strava for purposes of helping my Max Square.

But it’s not that important to me, have to think about if the fee increase is worth it.

RideWithGPS is much better for route planing.
