Gotta be a tarcker. Or at least a lurker.
Probably @chasea
Joined in 2013 yet I have no idea who they are. That’s hardcore lurking.
intentionally speeding the aging process of your bike and parts is cheating and weird.
Scans of the old Fat Tire Flyer are being posted

Hard to tell from that photo, but I think he’s on a Mountain Goat Deluxe. His was banana yellow with smoke under the clear coat. Dave came from a BMX background and rode his MTBs accordingly.
There are 4 tire sizes, 700x30, 700x32, 650x48 and 650x42
That’s it
24 is the highest number
MTB in the smokies would be the shit.
Man I’ve been thinking about this for backpacking gear/comfort I always saw it as a parabola though. The inspiration being our very own @russ finishing the PCT on nothing but bags of chips.
Also, a good friend, carrying a small shopping bag, full of fresh berries, to the bottom of the Grand Canyon… And another person taking only an emergency poncho that he got at a gas station in to the Grand Canyon, but ending up dryer and more comfortable and with more dry gear than the rest of us.
I firmly disagree. The smokes already channel use into a handful of totally trampled areas. A mountain bike area would only make that worse. They can all go to Tsali
Maybe a bucket of paint for something to watch when you get bored
True but Tsali is pretty boring. Given the terrain, we have shockingly little infrastructure west of Brevard.
You’re probably right…but outside of Clingmans Dome and Max Patch I haven’t experienced hoards of people in the smokies.
Waxing is the best! I no longer get the mindset of people who don’t wax their chain or own a bidet.
Do you really think the ultrasonic is necessary though? ZFC said that to clean off the initial gunk a chain ships with, a series of soaks and shakes with mineral spirits followed by a couple acetone soaks and shakes is necessary, meaning the ultrasonic with degreaser isn’t quite right. And after that you can rinse with hot water before rewaxing if you want; but kind of maybe wiping it off is probably enough.
I have only been waxing for a year and not an expert, just read some blogs. So im asking with genuine curiosity.
And ya I do keep multiple chains going. It’s easier. You could even leave a second chain in your drop bag for a huge event.
