Bike blerg thread

Is this the proper thread for talking about Made bikes?
I deeply love and deeply hate this bike. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so conflicted about a single build.

Love:

  • A cool hybrid
  • A dirty bike at a booth at a show.
  • Flat bars with a lil bit of rise but still some saddle to bar drop
  • Not round tubes
  • Cow
  • Post mount

Hate:

  • Knife
  • Bottle opener
  • No rear dynamo light & that battery light specifically
  • These bottle cages
  • WI crank
  • No dropper

Despite all this it’s very stylish and I love it.

Cages are inexcusable

i wouldn’t have noticed that that rear light was not a dynamo, wth? for a dude who loves deeply modifying frames, why did he not do some internal routing for a rear dynamo light?

The dude seems genuinely nice and seems to be doing good things over at the Rodriguez shop, but is also heavily into IG bike nerd lifestyle and copying Fred’s paint job. I don’t really hate this bike but don’t really like it much either, despite being a sw8 hybrid.

The fork cage knife mount is cool as hell though.

I’d rather cow paint than ANOTER fucking gulf paint job

Next year someone is going to have a bike with t-slots for bottle cages

The PDW Neko cages would be so much better.

Nope

PDW should make a Nicolas Cage

Fred does not own a trademark on cow paint, come on now. We can see cool stuff and want to do it too.

plus this one doesn’t have the udder, which was what really set fred’s bike off :atmo:

I’m with you on some of this— if you’re going to have a bottle opener on a bike, put it somewhere it won’t get covered in grime. maybe the handle of that nice knife? I criticize this on 4wd builds too when it’s under the bumper or something

no excuse for this particular cage situation. I can get behind a top and side load cage but they should match on a bike at a show

I dislike WI’s aggressive commitment to their logo, not the engineering, but that’s more of a critique of WI rather than the choice of crank. definitely should have at least a short travel dropper or an eeSilk

also I think this bike would look sw8 with short, 90s mtb fenderettes

The bike already has two perfectly good bottle openers attached to the crank arms.
And the 4-5 other ways to open a bottle with a bike…
