Bike blerg thread

Peace Sports Illustrated if you like Xbiking…

I’ve spent way too much money on Calling in Sick, Low Pressure, and Peace Sports Illustrated recently. Not to mention my regular subscriptions to Adventure Cycling, Bikepacking Journal, and Bicycle Quarterly.

Thank God I haven’t gotten into books… Yet… Rough Stuff Fellowship keeps calling my name though.

I understand very little about their aesthetic of 90s web clipart and posting their own logo repeatedly

Low Pressure fucks. Eric did a tee design for my work and it’s gonna look so killer. I’ll post here when it’s printed up.

i don’t fully get it either but it’s a thing and has been for some time. i enjoy that it’s an intersection between bikes and graffiti and philly/midatlantic scenes

I bought a low pressure magazine because I love supporting small zines. it’s cool, but it is also evidence that writing good words remains challenging for many people who are good at designing things/taking photos of things/drawing things

What does one have to do to get a zine rolling these days? Do you have to first build an ig following like any other influencer?

IMO zines are more something you self publish and dont expect to make any money on. You can just make them and give them away. No barriers to entry.

One you’re deep into outsourced colour print production and subscriber lists & distribution channels you likely have a magazine.

Not sure if this is everywhere or just a CT thing, but my REI sells Ron’s Bikes now.

Good for them. They make great bags in the US.

He’s still a fucking cornball though.

They’re in CT aren’t they? Some sort of local spotlight kinda thing?

Yeah, they’re in CT. Might be a local thing. Was cool seeing all the stuff in person.

Is there a special term for the website that you order the zine from

“The Link in my Bio.”

Got mine in the mail today and these are slick. I was expecting some Kinkos stapled job but these are well done and really nicely laid out.

If there’s a PNW equivalent I want it.

Probably is but I’m unaware. But maybe we should make one for good measure

Edit: actually I think there is it’s called Bicycle Quarterly.
